Neurogenic heterotopic ossifications (NHOs) form in periarticular muscles after severe spinal cord (SCI) and traumatic brain injuries. The pathogenesis of NHO is poorly understood with no effective preventive treatment. The only curative treatment remains surgical resection of pathological NHOs.

Background And Purpose: The Blood Pressure Target in Acute Ischemic Stroke to Reduce Hemorrhage After Endovascular Therapy (BP TARGET) trial evaluated whether an intensive systolic blood pressure (SBP) target resulted in reduced rates of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) after successful endovascular therapy (EVT) but did not assess the effect of blood pressure variability (BPV) on functional outcomes and ICH occurrence. We sought to evaluate this question in the BP TARGET trial.
Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis of the BP TARGET trial and included patients with at least 50% of blood pressure (BP) recordings during the first 24 h after EVT.

The most important contributors to the anemia of patients with chronic kidney disease are insufficient erythropoietin production and erythropoietin hyporesponsiveness, decreased red blood cell half-life, iron deficiency, and inflammation. However, in contrast to the role of kidney failure, that of proteinuria and nephrotic syndrome is less clear. Bissinger et al.

Background: Outpatient endovascular treatment (EVT) for lower extremity artery disease (LEAD) is increasing. Some patients will, nonetheless, unexpectedly stay hospitalized for the night after the procedure. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors associated with a conversion from an outpatient setting (OS) to an inpatient setting (IS).

Introduction: This study examines the health status of long-haul truck drivers (LHTDs) and more specifically smoking and obesity, in France.
Methods: A total of 373 French and other LHTDs were randomly interviewed at six highway rest stops. Variables recorded were self-reported sociodemographic characteristics (age, gender, marital status, and nationality), behavioral variables (consumption of sodas, daily exercise, smoking status), weight and height.

Background And Purpose: Approximately half of the patients with acute ischemic stroke due to anterior circulation large vessel occlusion do not achieve functional independence despite successful reperfusion. We aimed to determine influence of reperfusion strategy (bridging therapy, intravenous thrombolysis alone, or mechanical thrombectomy alone) on clinical outcomes in this population.
Methods: From ongoing, prospective, multicenter, observational Endovascular Treatment in Ischemic Stroke registry in France, all patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion who achieved successful reperfusion (modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction 2b-3) following reperfusion therapy were included.

ALK-positive histiocytosis is a rare subtype of histiocytic neoplasm first described in 2008 in 3 infants with multisystemic disease involving the liver and hematopoietic system. This entity has subsequently been documented in case reports and series to occupy a wider clinicopathologic spectrum with recurrent KIF5B-ALK fusions. The full clinicopathologic and molecular spectra of ALK-positive histiocytosis remain, however, poorly characterized.

Rational: Pending the authorization of new anti-CMV drugs with fewer adverse effects, exploring the possibilities offered by CMV immunoglobulins (CMVIG) seems necessary. In France, access to CMVIG requires official authorization by the national Health authority and is restricted to second line rescue therapy for CMV infection/disease. The aim of this multicenter retrospective study is to describe the indications and clinical situations that justified its use in France.

Background: Due to their health condition, patients with neuromuscular diseases (NMD) are at greater risk of developing serious complications with COVID-19. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of COVID-19 among NMD patients and the risk factors for its impact and severity during the first wave of the pandemic. Clinical data were collected from NMD-COVID-19 patients, between March 25, 2020 and May 11, 2020 in an anonymous survey carried out by expert physicians from the French Health Care Network Filnemus.

Introduction: Infection is one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity in older adults. Available biomarkers are not associated with prognosis in older patients. This study aimed to analyze the value of eosinopenia (eosinophil count< 100/mm) as a prognosis marker among older patients with suspected or confirmed bacterial infection.

Background And Purpose: Despite the widespread adoption of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for the treatment of large vessel occlusion stroke (LVOS) in the anterior circulation, the optimal strategy for the treatment tandem occlusion related to cervical internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection is still debated. This individual patient pooled analysis investigated the safety and efficacy of prior intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in anterior circulation tandem occlusion related to cervical ICA dissection treated with MT.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of two merged prospective multicenter international real-world observational registries: Endovascular Treatment in Ischemic Stroke (ETIS) and Thrombectomy In TANdem occlusions (TITAN) registries.

Background And Purpose: The influence of prior antiplatelet therapy (APT) uses on the outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with endovascular therapy is unclear. We compared procedural and clinical outcomes of endovascular therapy in patients on APT or not before stroke onset.
Methods: We analyzed 2 groups from the ongoing prospective multicenter Endovascular Treatment in Ischemic Stroke registry in France: patients on prior APT (APT+) and patients without prior APT (APT-) treated by endovascular therapy, with and without intravenous thrombolysis.

The challenge faced by clinicians in confidently diagnosing TK cannot be underestimated. This study aimed to explore the microstructural characteristics and diagnostic parameters by in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) in TK.

Breast cancer cells frequently acquire mutations in faithful DNA repair genes, as exemplified by BRCA-deficiency. Moreover, overexpression of an inaccurate DNA repair pathway may also be at the origin of the genetic instability arising during the course of cancer progression. The specific gain in expression of , encoding the error-prone DNA polymerase Theta (POLθ) involved in theta-mediated end joining (TMEJ), is associated with a characteristic mutational signature.

Purpose: In primary metatarsalgia, Distal Minimally invasive Metatarsal Osteotomy (DMMO) achieves a correct load distribution which is a factor in pain relief, but contrary to the elevation of the metatarsal head, shortening the metatarsal length has no influence on plantar-loading parameters, while the increased metatarsal length is a factor in the development of metatarsalgia. Thus, we hypothesized that metatarsalgia could be partly related to a functional imbalance between bone structure and soft tissues and pain relief after DMMO results from soft tissue relaxation.
Methods: Many authors have highlighted the correlation between joint pressure and periarticular soft tissue tension.

Purpose: The mobility of the first tarsometatarsal (TMT1) is said to be correlated to the severity of hallux valgus determined using both clinical and radiographic criteria. The sagittal mobility of the TMT1 joint can be evaluated objectively using a new ultrasound test, which quantifies it in the form of a unitless value (ratio of two measurements). The objective of this study was to describe the relationship between TMT1 mobility on an ultrasound test and hallux valgus severity.

Background And Purpose: Endovascular therapy for tandem occlusion strokes of the anterior circulation is an effective and safe treatment. The best treatment approach for the cervical internal carotid artery (ICA) lesion is still unknown. In this study, we aimed to compare the functional and safety outcomes between different treatment approaches for the cervical ICA lesion during endovascular therapy for acute ischemic strokes due to tandem occlusion in current clinical practice.

The relationship between anxiety or depressive comorbidities, their chronology of onset, and the severity of anorexia nervosa (AN) is not well-studied. We hypothesize that the existence of a comorbidity, particularly before the onset of AN, is associated with greater severity of AN. One hundred seventy-seven subjects were assessed.
