The current work involves the fabrication of a MXene-Polythiophene (TiCT -PTh) composite interfacial polymerization, alongside its deployment as a counter electrode (CE) or photocathode in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The structural properties of the synthesized materials were investigated through a comprehensive array of techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrochemical performance, assessed cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), revealed that the TiCT -PTh CE exhibits superior electro-catalytic activity, and reduction in charge transfer resistance compared to other individual CEs.

This research paper unveils a fluorescent probe (PTZ-SCN) engineered for the specific detection of Cu, featuring a 10-ethyl-10-phenothiazine-3-carbaldehyde and 2-(thiophen-2-yl) acetonitrile moiety. The fluorescence sensing behavior of PTZ-SCN towards various metal cations was scrutinized in CHCN : HEPES (9 : 1) buffer aqueous solution. The UV absorbance of PTZ-SCN displayed a distinct red shift in the presence of Cu cations, whereas other metal cations did not cause any interference.

Role of the solvent polarity on the optical and electronic characteristics of 1-iodoadamantane.

RSC Adv

Magnetic Instrumentation and Applied Optics Laboratory, Department of Physics, School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology Vellore-632014 India

The natural absorbance caused by the chromophore and chemical behavior of 1-iodoadamantane is highly influenced by the polarity of different solvent environments. This gives rise to the solvatochromatic shifts in the optical absorption and electronic structure and the experimentally measured UV-vis absorption spectra show significant solvatochromic shifts with respect to the solvent polarity. The absorption shift for both σ to σ*and n to σ* electronic transitions are more dominant in polar solvents than in nonpolar solvents.
