High-fidelity structural analysis using numerical techniques, such as finite element method (FEM), has become an essential step in design of laminated composite structures. Despite its high accuracy, the computational intensiveness of FEM is its serious drawback. Once trained properly, the metamodels developed with even a small training set of FEM data can be employed to replace the original FEM model.

In this study, the fully-actuated dynamic equation of quad-rotor as a type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is considered in the existence of input-delay, model uncertainty and wind disturbance. Then, a super-twisting terminal sliding mode control approach is planned with the aim of the finite-time attitude and position tracking of quad-rotor UAV considering input-delay, model uncertainty and wind disturbance. The finite time convergence of the tracking trajectory of quad-rotor is proved by Lyapunov theory concept.

Polymers are highly promising materials for capturing carbon dioxide (CO), a greenhouse gas. Hence in this work, we prepared phyllosilicate supported mesoporous polymer via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerisation, which is the one among the controlled radical polymerisation. The mesoporous material anchored on dodecanethiol trithiocarbonate acts as a chain transfer agent (CTA) for the polymerisation of chloromethyl styrene and further conversion to quaternary ammonium compound which is effective to trap CO using tertiary amine.

Prostasomes, a secretory particle from prostate gland in human seminal fluid plays a role in enhancing the fertility and its absence or less presence will lead to male infertility. Very few fertility associated proteins were detected in prostasomes. In order to isolate the prostasomes from ejaculated semen, the characterization was done using biochemical, molecular and methods.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that commences as inflammation and progressively destroys the articular joint. In this study, we assess the anti-rheumatic potential of the monoterpenoid class of thymol conjugated with Carbon Dots (CDs). Waste biomass in the form of dried rose petals was chosen as a precursor for the synthesis of CDs via a one-step hydrothermal bottom-up methodology.

Excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) processes are widely exploited in the designing of organic materials for multifarious applications. This work explores the aftereffects of combining both ESIPT and ICT events in a single molecule, namely, ,'-bis(salicylidene)--phenylenediamine () exploiting DFT and TD-DFT formalisms. The PBE0 functional employed in the present study is found to yield results with better accuracy for excited-state calculations.

Pseudomonas asiatica C1, which could grow on glucose and aerobically synthesize coenzyme B, was isolated and developed as a microbial cell factory for the production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) from glycerol. Three heterologous enzymes, glycerol dehydratase (GDHt), GDHt reactivase (GdrAB) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), constituting the 3-HP synthesis pathway, were introduced, and three putative dehydrogenases, responsible for 3-HP degradation, were disrupted. In addition, the transcriptional repressor glpR and the glycerol kinase glpK were removed to increase glycerol import while eliminating the catabolic use of glycerol.

Background: Nowadays, the growth of smart cities is enhanced gradually, which collects a lot of information and communication technologies that are used to maximize the quality of services. Even though the intelligent city concept provides a lot of valuable services, security management is still one of the major issues due to shared threats and activities. For overcoming the above problems, smart cities' security factors should be analyzed continuously to eliminate the unwanted activities that used to enhance the quality of the services.

Early diagnosis and ultrahigh sample throughput screening are the need of the hour to control the geological spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditional laboratory tests such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and computed tomography are implemented for the detection of COVID-19. However, they are limited by the laborious sample collection and processing procedures, longer wait time for test results and skilled technicians to operate sophisticated facilities.

Herein, we have developed a novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE) probe and three-dimensional (3D) printed portable device for copper (Cu) sensing in an aqueous medium. A ubiquitous synthetic route has been employed to devise the anthracene-conjugated imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine (TL19) probe as a unique anchor for Cu ions. The TL19 is meticulously characterized through pivotal spectroscopic techniques, and the satisfactory results were obtained.

Acetate can be used as carbon feedstock for the production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP), but the production level was low due to inefficient cell growth on acetate. To better utilize acetate, a two-stage strategy, whereby glucose is used for cell growth and acetate for 3-HP formation, was attempted. Dissected malonyl-CoA reductase of Chloroflexus aurantiacus, alone or along with acetyl-CoA carboxylase and/or transhydrogenase, was overexpressed, and by-products formation pathway, glyoxylate shunt (GS) and gluconeogenesis were modified.

The integration of metal oxide composite nanostructures has attracted great attention in supercapacitor (SC) applications. Herein, we fabricated a series of metal oxide composite nanostructures, including ZnO nanowires, NiO nanosheets, ZnO/CuO nanowire arrays, ZnO/FeO nanocrystals, ZnO/NiO nanosheets and ZnO/PbO nanotubes, via a simple and cost-effective chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. The electrochemical properties of the produced SCs were examined by performing cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) analysis, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).

The present research work was conducted on a compression ignition engine to assess the engine characteristics fueled with the blend of diesel and high-oxygenated additives such as ethanol. Ethanol does not easily blend with diesel. In order to attain a homogeneous mixture, a small amount of additive is added to the blend.

In this regard, a new dye consisting of an -aryl-substituted imidazole with -alkylated carbazole as the donor and cyanoacrylic acid as the acceptor has been designed. The overall power conversion efficiency of the designed dye reached ∼50%, with respect to that of the N719-based device (4%) under similar experimental conditions.

Nickel-based alloys, especially Monel 400™, is gaining its significance in diverse applications owing to its superior mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance. Machining of these materials is extremely difficult through the traditional manufacturing process because of their affinity to rapid work hardening and deprived thermal conductivity. Owing to these difficulties a well-established disruptive metal cutting process namely plasma arc cutting (PAC) can be widely used to cut the sheet metals with intricate profiles.

In this article, an improved variant of the cuckoo search (CS) algorithm named Coevolutionary Host-Parasite (CHP) is used for maximizing the metal removal rate in a turning process. The spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut are considered as the independent parameters that describe the metal removal rate during the turning operation. A data-driven second-order polynomial regression approach is used for this purpose.
