Forecasting demand for blood products: Towards inventory management of a perishable product.

Forecasting consumption of blood products can reduce their order frequency by 60% and inventory level by 40%. This also prevents shortage by balancing demand and supply. Pandemic COVID-19 which has infected more than 35,027,546 people and death more than 1,034,837 people in 235 countries as on October 05, 2020 has created a chaos across the globe. In this paper, we develop a compartmental epidemic model to understand the spreading behaviour of the disease in human population with a special case of Bhilwara, a desert town in India where successful control measures TTT (tracking, testing and treatment) was adopted to curb the disease in the very early phase of the spread of the disease in India. The mechanism of stabilization of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) by 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ionic liquid (IL) is elucidated from experimental spectroscopic investigations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. FTIR spectrum of the synthesized IL stabilized silver nanoparticles reveals small red shift in B-F stretching frequency while C-H stretching remains unshifted. There is no shift in NMR peaks of IL before and after the synthesis of IL stabilized Ag NPs.

There is credible evidence that the 1984-Bhopal-methyl isocyanate (MIC)-gas-exposed long-term survivors and their offspring born post-exposure are susceptible to infectious/communicable and non-communicable diseases. Bhopal's COVID-19 fatality rate suggests that the MIC-gas tragedy survivors are at higher risk, owing to a weakened immune system and co-morbidities. There is little research on the visible light photocatalytic properties of the hybrids of plasmonic metals and organic molecules (OM) with the HOMO-LUMO gap in the visible range. Here, we investigate the mechanism of the visible light enhanced reduction of p-nitrophenol (PNP) by glycerol (a green reductant) at ambient temperature over curcumin functionalized Ag nanoparticles (c-AgNPs). The latest version of human coronavirus said to be COVID-19 came out as a sudden pandemic disease within human population and in the absence of vaccination and proper treatment till date, it daunting threats heavily to human lives, infecting more than 12, 11, 214 people and death more than 67, 666 people in 208 countries across the globe as on April 06, 2020, which is highly alarming. When no treatment or vaccine is available till date and to avoid COVID-19 to be transmitted in the community, social distancing is the only way to prevent the disease, which is well taken into account in our novel epidemic models as a special compartment, that is, home isolation. Based on the transmitting behavior of COVID-19 in the human population, we develop three quarantine models of this pandemic taking into account the compartments: susceptible population, immigrant population, home isolation population, infectious population, hospital quarantine population, and recovered population.

Certain articles of worship are commonly sold in Uttarakhand, India by the name Hatha Jodi, a root of a rare plant found only in a few parts of central India. The present work provides genetic proof that the Hatha Jodi sold in three local markets of Uttarakhand contained material from the species, species protected under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
