Impact factors and publication times of original scientific research in radiology journals.

Purpose: The time from article submission to publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals is variable and can be prolonged, which slows the dissemination of research and can influence the academic progress of authors. This study evaluated the publication times for articles in radiology journals, in particular the relationship between turnaround times and journal impact factors (IFs).

Methods: Bibliometric data was obtained from Journal Citation Reports to conduct a comparative analysis of radiology journals against those in other disciplines of clinical medicine using highest IF, median IF, cited half-life, immediacy index, and number of journals.

Gender disparity among top North American medical schools and their affiliated radiology departments: Medical school vs Radiology - Gender Diverse?

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the degree of gender disparity in leadership positions at the top 25 medical schools in North America compared to their affiliated radiology departments.

Methods: The academic rank and leadership appointment of medical school and radiology faculty were obtained from publicly available official websites between June-November 2022. Gender was determined using self-identified pronouns on website biographies.

Purpose: Women remain underrepresented in radiology and there is a paucity of literature examining the recognition of their professional contributions to the discipline. The purpose of this study was to examine the gender distribution of award winners across all North American radiology societies.

Methods: The gender distribution of 1923 award recipients from 21 North American radiology societies between 1960 and 2021 was examined.

Methods: This study analyzed patents filed and granted by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) in the category of "Diagnosis; Surgery; Identification" and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the category of "Surgery" from 2015 to 2019.

Objective: To evaluate gender and racial profiles of US academic radiology faculty.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of the American Association of Medical College database of radiology faculty members from 2006 to 2017 by academic rank, chair position, race or ethnicity, and gender. The data were described with annual proportions and average annual counts and fit to a Poisson regression model.
