Recent studies suggest that immunological and inflammatory responses in cardiovascular disorders, such as hypertension, myocardial infarction, ischemia injury, heart failure, arrhythmias, and atherosclerosis, may be affected by changes in the adenosine system. Pharmacological modulation of adenosine occurs through its receptor subtypes. In numerous preclinical studies, the activation of adenosine receptor 2A (AR) or the blockade of adenosine receptor 2B (AR) has shown promising results against cardiovascular diseases.

BACKGROUND Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a significant cause of perinatal and postnatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Catalase (CAT) activity detection is used to determine levels of inflammation and oxidative stress. Glutathione (GSH) is the most critical non-enzymatic endogenous antioxidant.

Background: Coronary artery calcium score (CACS) is an established marker of coronary artery disease (CAD) and has been extensively used to stratify risk in asymptomatic individuals. However, the value of CACS in predicting plaque morphology in patients with advanced CAD is less established. The present analysis aims to assess the association between CACS and plaque characteristics detected by near-infrared spectroscopy-intravascular ultrasound (NIRS-IVUS) imaging in patients with obstructive CAD.

Inflammation involves a long chain of molecular reactions and cellular activity designed to repair tissue damaged by various causes. The inflammatory process and its complex mechanisms have recently become a focus of interest for many researchers. After the onset of inflammation, various adverse conditions that initiate the inflammatory response need to be addressed; however, failure to limit the inflammatory reaction may result in the damage or destruction of host cells.

In this paper, we present the synthesis and characterization of two known sulfonyl hydrazides ( and ) and their new sulfonyl hydrazone derivatives (-), as well as in vitro and in silico investigations of their cytotoxic properties against human lung (A549) and human breast (MCF-7) cancer cell lines. The target compounds (-) obtained in high yields were synthesized for the first time by a multi-step reaction, and their structures were confirmed by elemental analysis and various spectral techniques, including FT-IR, H-, and C-NMR. The antiproliferative profiles of these compounds (, , and -) in this study were determined at concentrations of 200, 100, 50, and 25 µM against selected cancer cell lines for 72 h using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) method.

Liver biopsy is still the gold standard in the staging of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide. However, being an invasive method, liver biopsy has limited use in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between serum levels of cytokeratin 18 (CK-M30) and N-terminal procollagen III propeptide (PIIINP) in patients with biopsy-proven NAFLD.

Background And Purpose: Erectile dysfunction is a common issue among adult males involving difficulty in maintaining an erection, and it is often treated with fast-acting, low-side-effect drugs like avanafil (AVN), among other phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors. Hence, developing fast, simple, and sensitive methods to detect AVN is crucial.
Experimental Approach: This study conducts an electroanalytical inquiry and provides a new voltammetric method for accurately analyzing AVN utilizing a boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode without any modifications.
