Objective: To quantify the mortality risk in a large, well-characterized cohort of Sjögren's disease (SjD) patients and to identify independent predictors of mortality in this population.
Methods: We included 314 patients diagnosed with SjD according to the 2002 American-European Consensus Group criteria from a prospective, multicenter SjögrenSER-PROS cohort. Detailed data on systemic manifestations, serological markers, disease activity, and mortality was collected after 9 years of follow up.

: Given the global concern about mental health in the world, different approaches are being explored in its approach and treatment. In this line, the care of the spiritual dimension has been shown in many studies to have a significantly positive relationship. In mental health units, the comprehensive approach that involves comprehensive care considers the spiritual dimension as an aspect of care that contributes to coping with mental health problems.

Evaluating the ejaculate may not be sufficient for identifying RE in some patients. Hence, the management of infertility may involve the use of invasive methods such as epididymal fluid retrieval or testicular biopsy.

Introduction: Choledocholithiasis is a common clinical condition that may present with severe complications such as acute cholecystitis or cholangitis, requiring treatment on an emergency setting. This situation is frequently managed following an endoscopic approach by ERCP. However, access to emergent endoscopic biliary decompression is lacking in most centers.

Background: Malnutrition and sarcopenia are highly prevalent in patients with head neck cancer (HNC). An accurate early diagnosis is necessary for starting nutritional support, as both are clearly associated with clinical outcomes and mortality. We aimed to evaluate the applicability and accuracy of body composition analysis using electrical bioimpedance vectorial analysis (BIVA) for diagnosing malnutrition and sarcopenia in patients with HNC cancer undergoing systemic treatment with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Background: The effectiveness of the early treatment for antiviral agents in SARS-CoV-2 infection is closely related to patient comorbidities. Data on effectiveness in immunocompromised patients are limited, with reports involving highly heterogeneous and not well-defined populations. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of treatment in reducing hospitalizations in a real-world cohort of severely immunocompromised COVID-19 outpatients.

Advanced splenic flexure tumors are uncommon and have a higher risk of relapse. To ensure that the resection includes the entire area of lymphatic drainage with a complete mesocolic excision (CME), a left extended colectomy is needed. In peritoneal carcinomatosis, there is often extensive involvement of the sigma and splenic flexure of the colon.

Background: The increasing incidence of coeliac disease is leading to a growing interest in active search for associated factors, even the intrauterine and early life. The exposome approach to disease encompasses a life course perspective from conception onwards has recently been highlighted. Knowledge of early exposure to gluten immunogenic peptides (GIP) in utero could challenge the chronology of early prenatal tolerance or inflammation, rather than after the infant's solid diet after birth.

Definitive diagnosis of infective endocarditis (IE) is mainly based on microbiological and imaging criteria. In a minority of cases, particularly when perivalvular area is involved, cardiac conduction disorders (CCD) may appear, which implies worse prognosis. In this scenario, different degrees of auriculoventricular block can occur, but development of bundle branch block is rare.

We assessed the prevalence and factors associated with HIV-infected patients' interest in trying long-acting injectable antiretroviral treatment (LAI-ART) along with its expected benefits and concerns, and evaluated physicians' opinions about LAI-ART. This study was set within the multi-center prospective CoRIS cohort, comprising HIV-positive adults, naïve to antiretroviral treatment (ART) at study entry, recruited from 2004 onward in 48 centers in Spain. In June 2022, we conducted a 2-day cross-sectional survey among patients across 34 CoRIS centers and sent an online questionnaire to all physicians prescribing ART in 39 CoRIS centers.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The objective was to create and validate the usefulness of a convolutional neural network (CNN) for identifying different organs of the pelvic floor in the midsagittal plane via dynamic ultrasound.
Methods: This observational and prospective study included 110 patients. Transperineal ultrasound scans were performed by an expert sonographer of the pelvic floor.

Purpose: To assess the reliability of excising residual breast cancer lesions after neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NAST) using a previously localized paramagnetic seed (Magseed®) and the subsequent use of contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) to evaluate response.
Methods: Observational, prospective, multicenter study including adult women (> 18 years) with invasive breast carcinoma undergoing NAST between January 2022 and February 2023 with non-palpable tumor lesions at surgery. Radiologists marked tumors with Magseed® during biopsy before NAST, and surgeons excised tumors guided by the Sentimag® magnetometer.

Uterine arteriovenous malformations are a rare cause of puerperal haemorrhage, but their incidence is increasing due to both improved diagnosis and the more frequent use of uterine surgery in recent years. The use of ultrasound, both B-mode and Doppler, is recommended for diagnosis and follow-up, as it has been shown to be the simplest and most cost-effective method. Endometrial thickening associated with an anechoic and vascular intramiometrial structure is very useful for diagnosis and can help to exclude other causes of dysfunctional bleeding.

Introduction: Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) serves as a method to estimate body composition. Parameters such as phase angle (PA), standardized phase angle (SPA), body mass cell (BCM), BCM index (BCMI), and fat-free mass (FFM) might significantly impact the prognosis of head and neck cancer (HNC) patients. The present study aimed to investigate whether bioelectrical parameters can be used to predict survival in the HNC population and establish the optimal cutoff points for predictive accuracy.

Head and neck cancer (HNC) is a prevalent and aggressive form of cancer with high mortality rates and significant implications for nutritional status. Accurate assessment of malnutrition in patients with HNC is crucial for optimizing treatment outcomes and improving survival rates. This study aimed to evaluate the use of ultrasound techniques for predicting nutritional status, malnutrition, and cancer outcomes in patients with HNC.

Objectives: The changes of the extracellular matrix of the connective tissue have significantly contributed to the incidence of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). It seems reasonable that sonoelastography could be a useful tool to evaluate the elasticity of pelvic floor tissue in patients with POP and compare it to those without POP. The main aim of this pilot study was to determine if there are differences in the elasticity of the levator ani muscle (LAM) and vaginal tissue between patients with and without POP.

Background: Tubal pathology is the etiological factor in 20% of couples with female infertility. Historically, diagnostic evaluation of the fallopian tubes has been performed by means of hysterosalpingography (HSG). Hysterosonosalpingography with EXEM foam is a recent technique with supposedly comparable effectiveness to HSG, but with better tolerability for patients.

Objective: To determine if the addition of the assessment of levator ani muscle (LAM) avulsion to the measurement of the difference in the pubis-uterine fundus distance between rest and with the Valsalva maneuver could increase the diagnostic capacity of ultrasound for uterine prolapse (UP).
Methods: This multicenter, observational and prospective study included 145 patients. Ultrasound assessment was performed, establishing the diagnosis of UP as a difference between the pubic-uterine fundus distance at rest and during the Valsalva maneuver ≥15 mm (standard technique), while LAM avulsion was defined as an abnormal LAM insertion in three central slices using multislice ultrasound.
