Introduction: Various barriers exist for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients in the United States healthcare system, including language barriers. To address language access, interpreters have been used as well as physicians who speak the same language (language concordance), with unknown effect. By studying the strength of patient-physician relationships under different communication parameters, such as the use of a variety of language services, we can better understand healthcare interactions and move toward optimizing patient care and health outcomes.

Background: The American Board of Medical Specialties definition of medical professionalism cites the need to acquire, maintain, and advance a value system serving the patients' and public's interests above self-interests. Medical professionalism is a one of the core physician competencies assessed by both the ACGME training program evaluation and the ABA certification process. However, a growing concern for the decline of professionalism and altruism in medicine resulted in increased publications on the matter, citing various potential sources for the issue.

NPWT is a surgical dressing that combines polyurethane foam with the subsequent application of continuous or intermittent negative pressure. NPWT facilitates granulation tissue production by macrostrain, microstrain and, if desired, fluid instillation. Sealing the polyurethane foam over the wound bed is achieved using acrylic drapes; however, this can be difficult to use in some anatomic sites.

The adaptive evolution of SARS-CoV-2 variants is driven by selection for increased viral fitness in transmissibility and immune evasion. Understanding the dynamics of how an emergent variant sweeps across populations can better inform public health response preparedness for future variants. Here, we investigated the state-level genomic epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 through baseline genomic sequencing surveillance of 27,071 public testing specimens and 1,125 hospital inpatient specimens diagnosed between November 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022, in Arizona.

Introduction: In recent years, the erector spinae plane block (ESPB) has seen widespread use to treat acute and chronic pain in the regions of the thoracic spine. While limited data suggest its increasing utilization for pain management distal to the thoracic, abdomen and trunk, the anesthetic spread and analgesic mechanism of ESPB at the level of the lumbar spine has not been fully described or understood.

Methods: This is an observational anatomic cadaveric study to assess the distribution of solution following an ESPB block performed at the fourth lumbar vertebrae (L4) using ultrasound guidance to evaluate the spread of a 20 ml solution consisting of local anesthetic and methylene blue.
