CNRS, INSERM, CEA, Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of Grenoble (IRIG), Laboratory of Biology of Cancer and Infection, Univ. Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble, France.

Aims: We evaluate whether the serum and aqueous humour (AH) level of IgG anti-Hsp70.1 antibodies improved the biological diagnosis of ocular toxoplasmosis.

Methods And Results: In this prospective cross-sectional and multicentre study, serum and AH were collected at the time of active uveitis.

Backgroud: Fabry disease (OMIM #301 500), the most prevalent lysosomal storage disease, is caused by enzymatic defects in alpha-galactosidase A (GLA gene; Xq22.1). Fabry disease has historically been characterized by progressive renal failure, early stroke and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, with a diminished life expectancy.

Article Synopsis
  • Pallister-Killian syndrome (PKS) is a rare genetic disorder resulting from an extra chromosome 12p, leading to developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and other congenital anomalies.
  • In a study of five PKS patients, array Comparative Genomic Hybridization (aCGH) was used to identify genetic abnormalities, revealing tetrasomy 12p in four patients and confirming typical PKS features.
  • The findings suggest that aCGH is an effective diagnostic tool for PKS using blood samples, recommending its use before more invasive methods like skin biopsies, as it can detect low levels of mosaicism.

We performed a clinical audit of the management of patients with mutations, 1 year after the introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitor (-TKI) in first-line treatment. Compliance was defined by tumor molecular profiling for stage IIIB and IV non-small-cell lung cancer and first-line treatment as recommended by the French guidelines. Among the 169 -mutated patients, compliance was 76.

Objectives: To propose a scale of severity for post-thrombotic venous lesions (PTVLs) after ilio-femoral deep venous thrombosis and to compare the grade with the results of endovascular treatment of ilio-femoral PTVLs.

Methods: In this retrospective monocentric observational study, we included 95 patients treated for ilio-femoral PTVLs. We proposed a four-grade scale evaluating the severity of PTVLS caudal to the common femoral vein based on CT phlebography and per-operative phlebography.

Large-vessel vasculitis diagnosed between 50 and 60 years: Case-control study based on 183 cases and 183 controls aged over 60 years.

Autoimmun Rev

July 2019

National Referral Center for Rare Autoimmune and Systemic Diseases, Hopital Cochin, AP-HP, Université Paris Descartes, Paris, France. Electronic address:

Background: Age at onset of large-vessel vasculitis (LVV) is commonly used to distinguish giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Takayasu arteritis (TA). However, LVV between age 50 and 60 years may be difficult to classify.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study including LVV aged between 50 and 60 years at onset (LVV, cases) and compared them to LVV aged over 60 years (LVV, controls).

Large International Validation of ABSIS and PDAI Pemphigus Severity Scores.

J Invest Dermatol

January 2019

Department of Dermatology, Rouen University Hospital, and INSERM U 1234, Centre de référence des maladies bulleuses autoimmunes, Normandie University, Rouen, France.

The Pemphigus Disease Area Index (PDAI) and Autoimmune Bullous Skin Disorder Intensity-Score (ABSIS) scores have been proposed to provide an objective measure of pemphigus activity. These scores have been evaluated only on already treated patients mainly with mild to moderate activity. The objective was to assess the interrater reliability of ABSIS and PDAI scores and their correlation with other severity markers in a large international study.

The treatment of low-tumour burden follicular lymphoma (LTBFL) remains a challenge. Rituximab-based strategies may be improved by adding chemotherapy. This Lymphoma Study Association multicentre phase II study assessed rituximab and bendamustine in 63 patients with untreated LTBFL who were aged over 60 years old and had a follicular lymphoma International Prognostic Index (FLIPI) score ≥2.

Article Synopsis
  • Fabry disease is an X-linked disorder linked to a deficiency in an enzyme called alpha-galactosidase A, leading to classic and non-classic clinical phenotypes and was treated with enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) starting in 2001.
  • In a study of 103 patients (53 males) in the French cohort FFABRY, it was found that 40% of men and 8% of women developed antibodies against ERT, with a significant prevalence in males with specific mutations and classic phenotype.
  • The study showed that antibody levels, particularly IgG4 and IgG2, were correlated with treatment inhibition and plasma lysoGb3 levels, revealing an association between immune response and clinical outcomes in Fabry disease

Article Synopsis
  • This study focused on identifying preoperative factors that can predict successful outcomes for patients undergoing salvage surgery after locoregional recurrence of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
  • A retrospective analysis of 52 patients treated surgically from 2005 to 2013 found that certain prognostic factors, like the cT status and timing of recurrence, significantly impacted survival rates.
  • The findings suggest that due to the potential for high complication rates, careful patient selection is crucial before proceeding with surgery.

Increased body mass index as a risk factor in localized prostate cancer treated by radical prostatectomy.

Urol Oncol

June 2016

Department of Urology, University Hospital-Jules Bordet Institute, Brussels, Belgium; Faculty of medicine, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium.

Background: The association between obesity and aggressive forms of prostate cancer is controversial. We compared preoperative body mass index (BMI) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels as predictive risk factors for increased prostate weight and disease aggressiveness.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective review of 464 patients with localized prostate cancer who underwent radical prostatectomy between March 1999 and October 2006 examined relationships among clinicopathological variables (BMI, preoperative serum PSA, biopsy and pathologic Gleason score [GS], and whole prostate weight) using linear and multinomial logistic regression analysis.

Transtracheal esophageal stent removal: a case-series.

J Clin Med Res

April 2013

ENT and Cervicofaciale Surgery Unit, Croix-Rousse Hospital, Hospices Civils de Lyon, France ; ENT and Cervicofaciale Surgery Unit, Valence Hospital, France.

Benign esophagorespiratory fistula is a rare but often lethal affection and difficult to cure. Possible treatments are surgery or esophageal stenting but may fail and cause respiratory failure. Two patients with spontaneous esophagorespiratory fistula after chemoradiotherapy for an esophageal malignancy were both treated by esophageal exclusion but esophageal stent were left in place.
