PIs can promote nutritional deficiencies, increasing the risk of anemia and impaired physical and cognitive development. Thus, fortified foods have been considered as a promising strategy for improving the nutritional status of children and preventing PI complications.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how corrosion of orthodontic appliances can lead to nickel release, causing an allergic oral inflammatory response known as nickel-induced allergic contact stomatitis (NiACS).
  • A retrospective analysis of 44 orthodontic patients revealed that younger patients, particularly females with prior allergic histories, are more likely to experience NiACS symptoms.
  • The findings suggest that past allergic reactions are significant indicators of potential NiACS, highlighting the importance of documenting such histories in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment.
