Streptococcus suis is a porcine pathogen that causes severe zoonotic infections in humans resulting in meningitis and sepsis. The main risk factors for S. suis zoonotic infections are consumption of raw pork products and direct contact with live pigs or pork, in particular in the presence of skin injuries.

Celiac disease care differs significantly between high- and low-middle-income countries: a global survey of celiac experts from 63 countries.

Background And Aim: Celiac disease (CeD) is increasingly diagnosed but significant disparities exist in awareness, practices, resources, and legislation worldwide. We conducted a global online survey with CeD experts to assess this disparity internationally.

Methods: A 55 questions survey encompassing nine domains relevant to CeD care (awareness, gluten-free [GF] foods availability/cost/quality, GF labeling, CeD dietician availability, insurance for CeD patients, medical training, research funding, patient support groups, and unmet needs) was generated and sent to CeD experts worldwide electronically.

: The diagnostics and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in women remain insufficient. Fluctuations of reproductive hormones during the premenstrual period, postpartum period, and (peri)menopause are neglected, even though they impact ADHD symptoms and associated mood disorders. Therefore, we created a female-specific treatment group for women with ADHD and premenstrual worsening of ADHD and/or mood symptoms.

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a debilitating disease characterized by thrombotic occlusion of pulmonary arteries and vasculopathy, leading to increased pulmonary vascular resistance and progressive right-sided heart failure. Thrombotic lesions in CTEPH contain CD68 macrophages, and increasing evidence supports their role in disease pathogenesis. Macrophages are classically divided into pro-inflammatory M1 macrophages and anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages, which are involved in wound healing and tissue repair.

Background: Professionals providing self-management support to parents regarding the care for their child with a chronic condition nowadays is an important aspect of child healthcare. This requires professionals to orient themselves towards partnership and collaboration with parents. The aims of the current study were the development and validation of the S-Scan-Parental self-management Support (S-scan - PS) as a tool for healthcare professionals to reflect on their attitude and practices regarding the support for parental self-management.

Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS) is a rare genetic disorder clinically characterized by vascular, intestinal and uterine fragility and caused by heterozygous pathogenic variants in the COL3A1 gene. Management of patients with vEDS is difficult due to the unpredictability of the events and clear recommendations on the care of adults and children with vEDS are lacking. Therefore, we aimed to collect data on the current strategy of surveillance and monitoring of vEDS patients by expert centers in continental Europe and Great Britain, as a first step towards a consensus statement.

An 82-year-old male was referred to the emergency department for severe respiratory distress. Computed tomography angiography showed tracheal compression due to a large ruptured saccular aneurysm of the descending thoracic aorta. Emergency Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (TEVAR) was performed.

Introduction: Joint mobilisation and manipulation often results in immediate pain relief in people with neck pain. However, the biological mechanisms behind pain relief are largely unknown. There is preliminary evidence that joint mobilisation and manipulation lessens the upregulated neuroimmune responses in people with persistent neck pain.
