In this study, the specific activities of Ra, Th and K in the unfired construction materials (solid card bricks, 4-hole bricks, pavement bricks) containing fly ash and bottom ash from a coal-fired thermal power plant in Vietnam were measured using the low-level gamma-ray spectrometer with HPGe detector. Also, the Rn concentrations in these materials were analyzed using RAD7 radon monitor and then radon mass exhalation rate and emanation fraction of these materials were calculated. The potential radiological hazards for residents living in the model room made of these materials were evaluated.

Background And Objective: Pulmonary nodule detection and segmentation are currently two primary tasks in analyzing chest computed tomography (Chest CT) in order to detect signs of lung cancer, thereby providing early treatment measures to reduce mortality. Even though there are many proposed methods to reduce false positives for obtaining effective detection results, distinguishing between the pulmonary nodule and background region remains challenging because their biological characteristics are similar and varied in size. The purpose of our work is to propose a method for automatic nodule detection and segmentation in Chest CT by enhancing the feature information of pulmonary nodules.

A phenomenon known as "blue-light leakage" caused by overheating pcW-LEDs has recently been identified, and it poses a risk to users. This study focuses on investigating and optimizing a solution to address this issue. To tackle the problem of overheating and blue light leakage, we explored the application of a specific thermochromic material called crystal nano cellulose (CNC).

Soil factors, especially metal elements in the soil, play a significant role in forming and accumulating secondary metabolites, which determine the medicinal properties of medicinal herbs. In this study, the concentrations of some metal elements (K, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Cr) in Cam Mountain and Tinh Bien Town, An Giang Province, Vietnam, were determined using the XRF method. We simultaneously determined the total phenolic and flavonoid content of some medicinal herbs collected from the collected soil sample areas, thereby assessing the influence of these elements on the formation of secondary metabolites in medicinal plants.

The structural features of the as-synthesized composites at 900 °C were determined by analytical methods with high reliability. Consequently, Co/CZIF-12_900 exhibits a high first specific discharge capacity of 971.

Infection with Helicobacter pylori is the strongest known risk factor for gastric cancer, which is one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. H. pylori can contribute to carcinogenesis by inducing the genomic instability of infected cells through increasing accumulation of DNA double-stranded breaks (DSBs) and deregulating DSB repair systems.

A micellar hydrogel has long been considered an intelligent hydrophobic drug delivery material. In this study, synthesized PLA-PEG-PLA micellar hydrogel aims to encapsulate ibuprofen (IBU) in the core PLA hydrophobic of the micelle and prolong the drug release time by an injectable route. The structure and morphology of the PLA-PEG-PLA copolymer hydrogel were demonstrated by H NMR and TEM data.

Scaffold-based culture is necessary for hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) because HSCs are promptly autoactivated under plastic conditions. Our research aims to investigate the potential and role of fibrin scaffold in reducing autoactivation, maintaining cell function, and extending the in vitro culture time of primary HSCs. HSCs were isolated from BALB/c mice and cultured on the surface of plastic, Matrigel, and fibrin gel.

As Earth's climate has varied strongly through geological time, studying the impacts of past climate change on biodiversity helps to understand the risks from future climate change. However, it remains unclear how paleoclimate shapes spatial variation in biodiversity. Here, we assessed the influence of Quaternary climate change on spatial dissimilarity in taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional composition among neighboring 200-kilometer cells (beta-diversity) for angiosperm trees worldwide.

Purpose: To collect a dataset with adequate laryngoscopy images and identify the appearance of vocal folds and their lesions in flexible laryngoscopy images by objective deep learning models.
Methods: We adopted a number of novel deep learning models to train and classify 4549 flexible laryngoscopy images as no vocal fold, normal vocal folds, and abnormal vocal folds. This could help these models recognize vocal folds and their lesions within these images.

The plant extracellular ATP (eATP) receptor, P2K2, binds eATP with strong ligand affinity through its extracellular lectin domain. Ligand binding activates the intracellular kinase domain of P2K2 resulting in a variety of intracellular responses and, ultimately, increased plant immunity to invading fungal and bacterial pathogens. Here, using a computational prediction approach, we developed a tertiary structure model of the P2K2 extracellular lectin domain.

In this study, quantitative structure-property relationships (QSPR) based on a machine learning (ML) methodology and the truncated degree of π-orbital overlap (DPO) to predict the electronic properties, namely, the bandgaps, electron affinities, and ionization potentials of the cyano polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (CN-PAH) chemical class were developed. The level of theory B3LYP/6-31+G(d) of density functional theory (DFT) was used to calculate a total of 926 data points for the development of the QSPR model. To include the substituents effects, a new descriptor was added to the DPO model.

Background: For hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), effective therapeutic approaches are lacking. As aberrant gene methylation is a major contributor to HCC development, demethylating drugs such as 5-azacytidine (5-Aza) have been proposed. As most 5-Aza mechanisms of action are unknown, we investigated its phenotypic/molecular effects.

A promising approach to combat Covid-19 infections is the development of effective antiviral antibodies that target the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Understanding the structures and molecular mechanisms underlying the binding of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 can contribute to quickly achieving this goal. Recently, a cocktail of REGN10987 and REGN10933 antibodies was shown to be an excellent candidate for the treatment of Covid-19.

Introduction: Sweet wormwood and tortoise shell decoction, Thanh Hao Miet Giap Thang (THMGT) in Vietnamese, a traditional formula composed of five ingredients, is used in complementary care in Vietnam for patients who underwent conventional cancer treatment. To expand the clinical use and explore novel functions of THMGT, this study was conducted to investigate the effect of THMGT in terms of antiproliferative activity and selective cytotoxicity toward human breast cancer cells MCF-7.
Methods: Cytotoxicity of THMGT against human breast cancer cells MCF-7 and primary fibroblasts from a heathy donor were studied using sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay.
