The aim of study was to evaluate expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in (CT)-infected spontaneous aborters (SA). Endometrial curettage tissue was collected from 140 SA (sporadic SA- 70; recurrent SA- 70) (Group I) and 140 age-matched controls (Group II) from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, India. Polymerase chain reaction was performed for diagnosis of CT.

Report of a unique case of myoepithelial carcinoma of left parotid gland with metachronous bilateral cavernous sinus metastasis.

Myoepithelial carcinoma (MC) is a rare, locally aggressive malignant neoplasm of the salivary glands. Only few evidences on its metastatic behavior are available in the literature. We herein present a unique case of MC of left parotid gland which metastasized to bilateral cavernous sinuses.

Background: Recent WHO guidelines recommend dual therapy with ceftriaxone or cefixime plus azithromycin for gonorrhea. Azithromycin in combination with gentamicin or spectinomycin has been recommended in treatment failure cases. Due to emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) and extensively-drug resistant (XDR) Neisseria gonorrhoeae strains, it is important to look for efficacy of these combinations and also of others that might be used in future.

Cytological diagnosis of a rare case of cutaneous metastasis from transitional cell carcinoma, renal pelvis.

Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) arising from renal pelvis rarely gives rise to cutaneous metastasis. Due to the insufficient literature, the exact incidence is not known till date. Moreover, the diagnosis is confirmed on histopathological examination with the aid of immunohistochemistry wherever needed.

An extremely rare case of dermoid cyst of urinary bladder.

We report an extremely rare case of a dermoid cyst of the urinary bladder in a 30-year-old female who presented with pain in the left flank and dysuria since 9 months. On imaging (ultrasound and computed tomography), a relatively well-defined mass lesion with areas of fat and calcification was seen arising from the bladder wall. Cystoscopy showed presence of hair on the surface of the lesion.

Radiation-Induced Malignancies Making Radiotherapy a "Two-Edged Sword": A Review of Literature.

Radiotherapy is one of the modalities of treatment of malignancies. Radiation-induced malignancies (RIMs) are late complications of radiotherapy, seen among the survivors of both adult and pediatric cancers. Mutagenesis of normal tissues is the basis for RIMs.

A prospective analysis of risk factors for pediatric burn mortality at a tertiary burn center in North India.

Background: None of the available mortality predicting models in pediatric burns precisely predicts outcomes in every population. Mortality rates as well as their risk factors vary with regions and among different centers within the regions. The aim of this study was to identify socio-demographic and clinical risk factors for mortality in pediatric burns in an effort to decrease the mortality in these patients.

Unusual association of elbow dislocation with humeral biepicondylar fracture in a child: A case report and review of literature.

Humeral biepicondylar fracture with elbow dislocation is an unusual pattern of injury encountered in paediatric population. We reported a case of humeral biepicondylar fracture-dislocation of elbow in a 11-year-old boy, who presented with tender, swollen, and deformed left elbow following fall on his outstretched hand. Roentgenographic and CT evaluation confirmed the diagnosis, and also showed incarcerated medial epicondylar fragment.

Healthcare associated infections in neonatal intensive care unit and its correlation with environmental surveillance.

Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are frequent complications in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) with varying risk factors and bacteriological profile. There is paucity of literature comparing the bacteriological profile of organisms causing HAI with the environmental surveillance isolates. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate demographic profile, risk factors and outcome of HAI in NICU and correlate with environmental surveillance.

Idiopathic Bilateral Suprachoroidal Haemorrhage: A Rare Case Presentation.

55-year-old male presented with sudden onset painful diminution of vision in both eyes. On local examination, his visual acuity was FC at 2 metres in right eye and FC at 1 m in left eye. The IOP in right eye was 46 mm Hg and 44 mm Hg in left eye.

The Indian nose: An anthropometric analysis.

Anthropometric measurements of the nose are of great importance in planning aesthetic nasal surgery. Abundant literature is available on anthropometric analysis of Caucasians and Orientals, without similar references on the Indian nose and its regional differences. Thus, we conducted a descriptive cross-sectional epidemiological study of 1000 volunteers, with equal number of subjects derived from five geographic groups, namely North, Central, West, South, and the Himalayan region, to determine differences in nasal morphology of Indian population and among its various regions.

Congenital ptosis repair with a frontalis silicon sling: comparison between Fox's single pentagon technique and a modified Crawford double triangle technique.

Purpose: To compare the results of two different frontalis sling surgery techniques with silicon rod for ptosis: Fox's single pentagon technique and a modification of Crawford's double triangle technique.

Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, 52 eyes of 50 patients with severe ptosis and poor levator function (≤4 mm) were randomly assigned to the Fox group or the modified Crawford group. Cosmetic outcome, functional success, and lagophthalmos were compared.

Lung metastasis in primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma - Clinicopathological evaluation of a rare case with review of literature.

Primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is an extremely rare and indolent cutaneous malignancy with very infrequent distant metastasis. We present a case of primary cutaneous ACC with bilateral lung metastases in a 57-year-old male along with literature review. To the best of our knowledge this is the tenth case of primary cutaneous ACC reported presenting with distant metastasis.

Differential expression of circulating Th1/ Th2/ Th17 cytokines in serum of Chlamydia trachomatis-infected women undergoing incomplete spontaneous abortion.

The study aimed to elucidate role of Th1/Th2/Th17 cytokines in the immunopathogenesis of spontaneous abortion in Chlamydia trachomatis (Ct)-positive first-trimester aborters. Endometrial curettage tissue and serum were collected from 145 aborters (spontaneous abortion (SA) group, n = 85; recurrent miscarriage (RM) group, n = 60) and 120 controls attending Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Safdarjung hospital, New Delhi (India). Polymerase chain reaction was used to detect Ct plasmid/MOMP, while commercial cytometric bead array kit was utilized to estimate circulating serum cytokines.

Intramuscular Cavernous Hemangioma of Medial Rectus Muscle in Paediatric Age Group.

An 11-year-old male child presented with a mass on the nasal aspect of the right eye that has been there for the last 2 years. Extraocular movements were decreased in the right eye on levoversion, levoelevation, and levodepression. Local examination revealed a bluish mass with irregular surface and ill-defined margins located in the medial rectus muscle.

Deafness is negatively associated with higher distress, depression, somatization, and loneliness in patients of all age groups. The psychiatric presentation of patient also varies. Due to lack of proper communication, clinical approach often becomes quite difficult.

Spectrum of fungal infection in head and neck cancer patients on chemoradiotherapy.

Background: Radiotherapy for head and neck cancers (HNC) causes alteration of oral mucosal barrier predisposing it to colonization and infection. Such infections often result in pain and burning sensation thus contributing to major morbidity.

Background: Pediatric burns have a long-term social impact. This is more apparent in a developing country such as India, where their incidence and morbidity are high. The aim of this study was to provide recent prospective epidemiological data on pediatric burns in India and to suggest future preventive strategies.
