Effects of the Cold Pressor Test on Popliteal Vein Diameter, Flow Velocity, and Blood Flow in the Lower Limb in 60 Healthy Individuals.

BACKGROUND In various situations such as pain, exposure to hot or cold, and mental stress, where physiological stress occurs, the increased excitatory response in the sympathetic efferent neurons leads to an increased return of blood flow from the peripheral veins to the right atrium. The cold pressor test (CPT) is based on the effects of a cold stimulus that activates afferent sensory pathways to trigger a sympathetic response, resulting in an increase in blood pressure. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the cold pressor test on popliteal vein diameter, flow velocity, and blood flow in the lower limbs in 60 healthy individuals.

In vitro inhibition of uterine contractions using electrospun nanofibers loaded with nifedipine and ML7.

Objective: To formulate a nanofiber-based controlled drug delivery system that could be effective in preventing uterine contractions and can be used for the treatment of preterm labor.

Patients And Methods: We utilized uterine tissue samples obtained from ten pregnant women who underwent cesarean section at term to investigate the effect of nanofibers on spontaneous and induced myometrial contractions. We prepared nifedipine and ML7-loaded nanofibers using the electrospinning method with Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) polymer, resulted in seven groups of nanofibers, including a control group.

Serum INHB levels and ACE gene I/D polymorphism with increased risk for unexplained infertility.

Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) has a significant role in the angiogenesis of ovarian endothelium and the resumption of meiosis and folicular growth. However, there is no any study concerning ACE polymorphism and unexplained infertility (UI). The main aim of this study is that both identify ACE polymorphism and measure the serum ACE, anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and inhibin-B (INHB) levels in UI patients and controls in Turkish population.
