Exploring family profiles in explaining heterogeneity in parenting program engagement and effectiveness.

Parenting programs have proven effective in reducing disruptive child behavior. However, not all families benefit equally, and, to date, we have little insight into who benefits more or less and why. One possible solution is to explore how different potential moderators cluster together in individual families and whether such family profiles predict who benefits more or less from these programs.

"Time to Be Young?" - A Qualitative Study Exploring the Impact of Attending a Course for Young Carers Who Have a Parent with Dementia.

Purpose: Being a young carer of a parent with dementia can be challenging, with many carers undertaking various practical and caring tasks. The weekend course Time to be young? gathers young carers, aiming to support them to cope with their challenges in everyday life. The aim of this study was to explore their role as a caregiver and the experienced impact of the course on their strategies of coping in their everyday life.

Can mindfulness have long-term impact on patients with fibromyalgia? A two-year prospective follow-up study of a mindfulness-based intervention.

To examine changes in symptoms and health status in patients with fibromyalgia (FM) 24 months after participating in the mindfulness-based group-program, the Vitality Training (VTP), followed by physical exercise counselling. Seventy-six participants, mean age (range) 43 (26-52), females 69 (91%), diagnosed with FM according to the ACR 2011-criteria received the VTP in a previous randomised controlled trial. Control group participants could receive the VTP after a 12-month observation period, therefore only data from the intervention group were analysed in the present study.

Introduction: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) recipients are severely immunocompromised and susceptible to bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. Despite improved anti-microbial prophylaxis and preemptive strategies, bacterial bloodstream infections (BSIs) occur frequently in allo-HSCT recipients and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Epstein Barr virus (EBV) are the most relevant viruses following allo-HSCT and remain major concerns.

Heart rate response to physical activity is widely investigated in clinical and training practice, as it provides information on a person's physical state. For emerging digital phenotyping approaches, there is a need for individualized model estimation. In this study, we propose a zero-poles model and a data-driven evolutionary learning method for identification.

The prognostic impact of C-reactive protein and albumin in patients diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Background: Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is an aggressive and heterogeneous malignant disease. Patient age, comorbidities and disease-specific genetic abnormalities are recognized as primary determinants of treatment response. Recent years have elucidated the significance of nutritional status and inflammation across various malignancies, including AML, in influencing treatment outcomes.

Frequency and patterns of substance-induced psychosis in persons with concurrent mental health and substance use disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic: A Norwegian register-based cohort study.

Background: Substance use may be associated with the onset of psychotic symptoms, necessitating treatment for individuals with comorbid mental health and substance use disorders (MHD/SUD). COVID-19 significantly impacted individuals with MHD/SUD, reducing access to appropriate care and treatment. Changes in drug availability and prices during the pandemic may have influenced drug consumption.

Pain sensitization in fibromyalgia. Cross-sectional associations between quantitative sensory testing of pain sensitization and fibromyalgia disease burden.

Background: Whether fibromyalgia burden is related to measures of sensitization, assessed by quantitative sensory testing (QST), is not clear. We examine the associations between sensitization and fibromyalgia disease burden as measured by the polysymptomatic sistress scale (PDS) and the fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ) (range 0-100).

Development and validation of a broadly applicable instrument to measure patients' health promotion and empowerment process in chronic disease.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop and validate a generic, non-disease-specific, self-assessment measure that recognizes patients' health capacities and their empowering process of health promotion in chronic illness by using Bodyknowledging as the theoretical frame.

Methods: Item generation and expert content validity analysis were the first steps in instrument development. Potential items were then validated in focus group interviews with six patients diagnosed with various chronic diseases.

The use of assistive technology to promote practical skills in persons with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities: A systematic review.

Persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or intellectual disability (ID) have difficulties in planning, organising and coping with change, which impedes the learning of daily living skills (DLSs), social participation and self-management across different environmental settings. Assistive technologies (ATs) is a broad term encompassing devices and services designed to support individuals with disabilities, and if used in a self-controlled manner, they may contribute inclusion in all domains of participation. This comprehensive literature review aims to critically assess and unify existing research that investigates the use of assistive technology within the practical domain for individuals with ASD and/or ID.

Cyberbullying Among Adolescents in Norway: Time Trends and Factors Associated with Perpetration and Victimization.

There is limited knowledge about time trends in cyberbullying involvement, and whereas previous studies have often focused on various mental health outcomes, possible outcomes of cyberbullying may concern a wide range of areas. A better understanding of cyberbullying development over time, as well as of the possible consequences, is needed for effective prevention and intervention efforts. The aims of this study were (i) to gain knowledge of time trends in cyberbullying among Norwegian adolescents, and (ii) to better understand how different forms of cyberbullying involvement is related to a variety of outcomes.

Periodontitis and dental quality of life predict long-term survival in head and neck cancer.

Background: Our aim was to investigate oral health in newly diagnosed head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients in relation to long-term survival. We assessed whether the level of alveolar bone loss due to periodontitis at diagnosis, measured from orthopantomogram (OPG), and reported dental health-related quality of life (HRQoL) scores obtained at diagnosis contain prognostic information for HNSCC patients.

Methods: A total of 79 patients from a consecutive cohort of 106 diagnosed with HNSCC between November 2002 and June 2005 were included.

Virtual Reality Simulation in Undergraduate Health Care Education Programs: Usability Study.

186 countries have ratified The Convention on Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD) since 2006. Sweden ratified the CRPD in 2008, Denmark in 2009, and Norway in 2013. In the context of the United Nations, the concept of Universal Design (UD) introduced in the CRPD is new.

The patient and the family: investigating parental mental health problems, family functioning, and parent involvement in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

Parental mental health problems can impact child mental health, as well as treatment of child mental health problems. The aim of this study was to investigate self-reported mental health problems in parents of children referred to outpatient child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and to compare child mental health problems, family variables, treatment received and parent participation in treatment planning between parents above and below the cut-off for elevated mental health problems. The sample included N = 111 parents of N = 98 children.

A case study on experiences with integrated technologies in a care home for older adults.

To facilitate independent living for the growing population of older adults, innovative housing solutions such as novel concepts of care homes with integrated technologies have been developed. This case study exposes a significant gap between the intended goal of fostering independence in older adults and the actual impact of technology on their daily lives. The study explored perceptions, experiences, and needs regarding residents' use of integrated technologies along with the technologies' contribution to handling their everyday life in a Care+ home.

Prevalence and risk factors for impaired awareness of hypoglycaemia: A registry-based study of 10,202 adults with type 1 diabetes in Norway.

Aims: The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of impaired awareness of hypoglycaemia (IAH) and examine risk factors for IAH in adults with type 1 diabetes.

Methods: We conducted a population-based registry study of 10,202 adults (≥18 years) with type 1 diabetes using data from the Norwegian Diabetes Register for Adults. The registry used the 1-item Gold scale, measuring hypoglycaemia symptom awareness.

Aging in place or aging out of place? Family caregivers' perspectives on care for older Pakistani migrants in Norway.

The aging population in Europe is increasing, with growing ethnic diversity among older individuals due to migration. Public policies emphasize 'aging in place' to address financial challenges and reduce the burden on the healthcare system. However, research often overlooks the heterogeneity among older people, especially non-European migrants.

The Morality of Care: Female Family Caregivers' Motivations for Providing Care to Older Migrants.

Finding suitable long-term care arrangements for older migrants in Europe, including Norway, has been a major concern for healthcare policymakers in the last decade. However, many older people with migrant backgrounds, and to a certain extent their descendants, often prefer that care arrangements are managed within the family. Although caring for family members may be personally satisfying, it can also be a source of distress.

Care and choice architecture: Relatives' support for adults with intellectual disabilities in supported decision-making processes.

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) describes supported decision making as a fundamental human right. This study explores relatives' experiences, dilemmas, as well as key factors in supported decision-making processes with adults with intellectual disabilities living in municipal housing. The study draws on qualitative, in-depth interviews with relatives.
