Four salicylidene-based dual-responsive chemosensors 1,5-bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R1), 1,5-bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R2), 1,5-bis(3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R3) and 1,5-bis(3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R4) were synthesized and characterized. The molecular structures of R1 and R3 were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique, which crystallized in the orthorhombic and monoclinic 2/ space groups, respectively. The chemosensor molecules were investigated for their recognition properties against the selected cations (K, Ca, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Fe and Al) and anions (F, Cl, Br, I, HSO, HPO, ClO, N and NO) by colorimetry, absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, H NMR spectroscopy and theoretical studies.

This work is focused on the synthesis of several transition metal complexes [ML(MA)], where M = Copper (II), Zinc (II), Cobalt (II) and Nickel (II), MA = maleic acid and L = Schiff base generated from benzene-1,2-diamine [phenylenediamine] and 4-chlorobenzaldehyde. The characterization using Fourier-Transform Infrared, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, Ultraviolet-Visible spectra, Mass, Electro Paramagnetic Resonance and elemental analysis confirm the square planar geometry of the complexes. The antimicrobial potential of the complexes has been tested by the broth dilution method and the antioxidant method has been done by free radical scavenging analysis.

Sulphur containing compounds possess a great deal of interest due to wide range of beneficial activities towards biotic species. This work also deals with the study of biological examination of newly synthesized sulphur containing Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes derived from (E)-4-(phenylimino)-3-((E)-1-(phenylimino)ethyl)pent-2-ene-1-thiol Schiff bases. Moreover, the DNA nuclease efficiency of the synthesized metal complexes is studied by UV absorption studies, Fluorescence studies, Viscosity and CV titrations which confirm the intercalative mode of binding.

A novel binary heterogeneous electrocatalyst, CoSnO, decorated on chemically exfoliated boron nitride sheets (CE-BN) with an exceptional capacity to detect electrochemical properties has been prepared by the simple hydrothermal method. The structural, surface morphology and electrochemical characteristics of CoSnO/CE-BN were characterized using a range of physicochemical and electrochemical techniques. Various voltammetric approaches were used to observe the analytical behaviour and applications of CoSnO/CE-BN/GCE for the determination of 2-nitroaniline (2-NA).

A novel Schiff base ligand was synthesized by the Knoevenagel condensation of β-diketone (obtained from substituted Curcumin and Cuminaldehyde) and 4-amino antipyrine. Metal complexes were made from this Schiff base by reacting with metal salts such as Cu(II), Ni(II), Ru(III), VO(IV), and Ce(IV). Physicochemical approaches such as UV-Vis, FT-IR, NMR, EPR, and Mass spectroscopy were used to determine the geometry of the complexes.

Novel macrocyclic Schiff base complexes [[ML]X; where M = Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Mn(II) and VO(IV) L = macrocyclic ligand; X = Cl and SO] have been synthesized and characterized by microanalytical, H, C NMR, IR, Mass, UV-Vis, EPR spectral studies, as well as conductivity data. All the complexes exhibit square-planar geometry except vanadium complex. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and high conductance data reveal the monomeric and electrolytic nature of the complexes.

Ultrasonication is one of the emerging probes for nanoparticles synthesis as well as promoting the material property by treasuring the precious time during a chemical reaction. In this present work, we successfully designed a cloud-like α-ZnMoO nanospheres (ZMNS) using ultrasound assistance (bath sonication with the power of 60 W and frequency of 37/80 kHz) hydrothermal method for catalyzing the effective electrochemical determination of anti-androgen drug candidate flutamide (FLT). Material combinations of semiconductor with conducting polymer are gaining growing interest due to their enhanced activities in photocatalysis as well as electrochemical sensing. In this present work, we report a facile in situ synthesis of polypyrrole (PPy) polymer-incorporated silver molybdate (AgMoO) nanocomposite that is utilized as a photocatalyst and electrocatalyst for the degradation of pollutant heavy metals, namely, methylene blue (MB) and heavy metal (Cr(VI)), and ciprofloxacin (CIP) and for detection of the drug, azomycin. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by various theoretical, spectral, and microscopic studies.

The current study reports a new, simple and fast method using a flake-like dysprosium molybdate (Dy2MoO6; FL-DyM) nanostructured material to detect the antibiotic drug metronidazole (METZ). This nanocomposite material was employed on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to develop the electrode (FL-DyM/GCE). Further, the synthesized FL-DyM was systematically characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDS), elemental mapping, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses.

Quantum chemical calculations on energy and molecular structure of 2-amino-3-methyl-5-nitropyridine (2A3M5NP) have been attempted by implementing DFT/B3LYP method using 6-311G (d,p), 6-311G++ (d,p) and cc-pVTZ basis sets. The optimized geometry and the vibrational analysis for energetically most stable configuration, are carried out theoretically by using B3LYP/cc-pVTZ basis set. The computed vibrational frequencies were scaled by using scaling factors and compared with the experimental Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) solid phase spectrum in the region 4000-400 cm and FT-Raman spectrum in the region 4000-100 cm.

In this work, we report a sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor for the detection of dopamine (DA) neurotransmitter based on VS-SnS/f-MWCNT hybrids. Herein, the binary metal sulfide (VS-SnS) was synthesized via single step hydrothermal route and hybrids with f-MWCNT via the ultrasonication process. The as-prepared VS-SnS/f-MWCNT hybrids were characterized through the FESEM, EDX and elemental mapping, TEM, XPS, Raman and XRD techniques.

In this work, we have synthesized a few novel mononuclear complexes of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) using a pyrazolone-derived Schiff base ligand. They were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical methods. The elemental analyses, UV-Vis, magnetic moment values and molar conductance of the complexes reveal that the complexes adopt an octahedral arrangement around the central metal ions.

In this work, strontium cerate nanoparticles (SrCeO NPs, SC NPs) were developed through facile synthetic techniques (Ultrasound-Assisted (UA) and Stirring-Assisted (SA) synthesis) and utilized as an electrocatalyst for the selective and sensitive electrochemical detection of calcium channel blocker nifedipine (NDF). The as-prepared UASC NPs and SASC NPs were characterized using XRD, Raman, TEM, EDS, mapping, XPS and BET analysis which exposed the formation of SC NPs in the form of spherical in shape and well crystalline in nature. BET studies reveal that UASC NPs have maximum surface area than that of SASC NPs.

In the modern world, the contamination of ecosystem by human and veterinary pharmaceutical drugs through the metabolic excretion, improper disposal/industrial waste has been subjected to a hot issue. Therefore, exploitation of exclusive structured material and reliable technique is a necessary task to the precise detection of drugs. With this regards, we made an effort for the fabrication of novel one-dimensional (1D) stannous tungstate nanorods (β-SnW NRs) via simple sonochemical approach and used as an electrochemical sensor for the detection of antipsychotic drug chlorpromazine (CPZ) for the first time.
