The Co-occurrence of Cleft and Clubfoot: A Case Report on a Rare Medical Condition.

Cleft lip and palate (CLP) are complex deformities in craniofacial development that can range from isolated to syndromic presentations. This case presentation emphasizes the identification and early management of syndromic associations in patients with CLP. The report presents a unique case of a one-month-old female patient with complete unilateral CLP and clubfoot.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy: A Split-Mouth Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.

This clinical trial investigated the efficacy of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as an adjunct to conventional scaling and root planing (SRP) in non-surgical periodontal therapy. In a split-mouth randomized controlled trial with 13 patients and 26 periodontal pocket sites, PRF was inserted in test group pockets alongside SRP, while control group pockets received SRP alone. Measurements at baseline and six weeks included probing pocket depths (PPDs), clinical attachment loss (CAL), gingival recession (GR), the plaque index, and the gingivitis index.

Physiological Gingival Melanin Hyperpigmentation Treatment with Injectable Vitamin C and Scalpel Technique: A Randomised Controlled Clinical Trial.

Harmony between facial complexion and gingival health goes hand in hand. Gingival depigmentation is an aesthetic correction of hyperactive melanocytes in gingival tissues that lead to hyperpigmentation. Current study compares depigmentation, pain scores, and itching with scalpel technique and nonsurgical intramucosal Vitamin C injection.

Bone allograft block using demineralized freeze-dried bone ring technique in Indian patients.

Our study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the bone ring technique for ridge augmentation using Demineralized Freeze - Dried Bone Allograft block in Siebert's class II/class III defects along with simultaneous implant placement. A total of 15 partially edentulous patients (16 surgical sites) with Siebert's class II and/or class III defects in the anterior region of both jaws requiring ridge augmentation along with implant placement were selected. Starting from the first stage, surgery (Ridge augmentation+ implant placement) was done in the first month.

Oral capillary hemangioma in a ten year old female child with hepatitis B treated with monopolar electrocautery.

Capillary hemangioma is a benign, vascular tumor characterized by proliferation of blood vessels that are primarily reported to be a developmental hamartomatous lesion of infancy and childhood. Till date, many cases of capillary hemangiomas have been reported in the literature, but juvenile hemangiomas with other systemic manifestations such as hepatitis B have not been studied well so far. The present paper reports a rare case of capillary hemangioma in a ten-year-old female with hepatitis B, which was treated under general anesthesia using electrocautery and followed up for one year and no recurrence was found.

Comparative Evaluation of (Neem) Chip and Soft Tissue Diode Lasers as a Supplement to Phase I Periodontal Therapy in Localized Chronic Moderate Periodontitis: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.

Introduction: The current trial aimed to assess and compare the efficacy of neem chip and diode laser as a local drug delivery (LDD) agent as a supplement to phase I periodontal therapy in treatment of localized chronic moderate periodontitis. . Fourteen systemically healthy participants with 4-6 mm deep periodontal pockets at least in three quadrants (with no alveolar bony defect amenable to respective or regenerative osseous surgery, as seen in orthopantomograph) were selected for the trial.

Thermal Effect of Operatory Room Temperature, Surgical Drill Diameter, and Temperature of Irrigants at Different Depths of Implant Site Preparation - Thermographic Analysis on Goat Mandible.

Background: Drilling of the implant site results in transient rise in temperature of the surrounding bone disrupting the bone healing process and implant stability. Overproduction of heat due to various factors at osteotomy site needs to be controlled as it hampers the final outcome of the procedure.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate various factors related to implant drills responsible for heat generation and temperature rise during osteotomy.

Assessment of Habits of Tobacco Use among Dental and Nondental Students of Indian Population: A Cross-sectional Study.

Background: Tobacco usage can be equated to an unending progressive pandemic which continues to spread globally at an alarming unhindered pace. Dental surgeons have a key role in initiating reduction and even cessation of tobacco habits. Hence, the present study was undertaken for analyzing the habits of tobacco use among dental and nondental students of Indian population.

Ultrasonographic diagnosis of benign masseter muscle hypertrophy: A case report.

Masseter hypertrophy is a characteristic condition resulting from an increase in the size of the muscle mass. At times, it produces significant facial asymmetry and is an important finding in the differential diagnosis of similar located entities. A proper diagnosis of this condition would avoid more aggressive and unwarranted therapy by an inexperienced clinician who may mistake it for a more serious pathologic condition.

Malignant conversion of oral submucous fibrosis in surgically treated case.

Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is an insidious chronic disease affecting any part of the oral cavity and sometimes the pharynx with epithelial atrophy leading to stiffness of the oral mucosa, causing trismus and inability to eat. However a more serious complication of this disease is the risk of the development of oral carcinoma. We reported the histopathologically proven case of OSMF with initial interincisal mouth opening 2mm which was treated surgically with nasolabial flap technique but failed to follow up and could not do active mouth opening exercises.

Utility of high density porous polyethylene implants in maxillofacial surgery.

The aim of this paper was to determine the utility of high density porous polyethylene implants (HDPE) in a variety of facial skeletal deformities. Sixteen patients (age range 14-28 years) with facial deformities requiring skeletal defect reconstruction or augmentation, treated between January 2008 and December 2010. The follow-up of the patients ranged from 6 months to 2 years.

A novel approach in management of lateral luxation of primary tooth.

Lateral luxation is defined as the displacement of the tooth in a direction other than axially. The present case report narrates management of laterally luxated primary maxillary central incisor with occlusal interference using an inclined plane fabricated with composite resin. The composite resin inclined plane was successfully used for correction of cross-bite caused due to lateral luxation particularly in delayed presentation of the case to the Pedodontics clinic after traumatic injury with occlusal interference.

An endo-aesthetic management of crown dilaceration in a permanent mandibular central incisor.

Traumatic injuries to primary dentition may result in a wide range of developmental disturbances to succedaneous permanent teeth. The prevalence of morphological disturbances, secondary to dental injuries in the primary dentition, ranges from 12% to 69%. One of the morphological disturbances are crown dilacerations which are defined as the displacement of a portion of the developing crown at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the tooth.
