Post and core systems have long been used in dentistry for the purposes of replacing missing coronal tooth structure, retaining the core, and providing sufficient retention and resistance form to the final restoration to re-establish original form and function. While Part 1 of this two-part article provided a history of post and core systems and materials and discussed empirical data regarding fiber-reinforced post systems, this second part of the article focuses on an alternative approach for developing a fiber-reinforced post and core system using a monoblock system via the injectable resin technique and a recently developed fiber-optic post. The present article explains the concept of a ferrule effect and demonstrates the novel restorative procedure.

Objectives: Studies have inferred a direct association between Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) and the integrity of the structures associated with it such as the Glenoid fossa thereby necessitating the requirement to measure the thickness of this oft ignored entity. This study was carried out to assess the thickness of the glenoid fossa roof in dentulous, edentulous, and partially edentulous subjects using archival Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images.

Method: Analysis of CBCT data of 120 joints from 60 adult subjects without signs and symptoms of TMD was carried out.

Hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC) presents with varied neurological manifestations that have been reported in the literature like facial palsy, vision and hearing impairment, stroke, and headache. In this article, we reported a 12-year-old girl child patient with recurrent facial weakness with bilateral hearing impairment and multiple ulcerative lesions on lower limbs and elbows. Background And Objectives: The relationship between the articular eminence (AE) inclination and masticatory system in the biomechanics of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is defined by the degree with normal values of 30°-60° obtained between the posterior wall of the AE and a horizontal reference plane. The purpose of this study was to assess the asymmetry of the AE in dentate, partially edentulous, and edentulous patients using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging and to compare the determined asymmetry in the dentulous with partially and completely edentulous patients.
