Variations of venous drainage of the thyroid gland and their surgical implications: a narrative review.

Diseases of the thyroid are common worldwide, so knowledge of its normal and variant anatomy, especially of the veins of thyroid, is essential for safe and successful surgery involving the anterolateral neck. The aim of this study is to consolidate all information related to venous drainage of the thyroid gland as a ready reference for vascular and endocrine surgeons. The study was conducted at the Department of Anatomy and the literature search was carried out using the Pubmed, Scielo, Researchgate, Medline, and Scopus databases.

Comparative Study Between Conventional Landmark Versus Ultrasound-Guided Paravertebral Block in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A Randomized Controlled Study.

Introduction: Thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) has emerged as an effective and safe regional technique for providing postoperative analgesia. We aimed to compare the ease and efficacy of conventional landmark and ultrasound-guided (USG) paravertebral blocks for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Methods: This was a randomized controlled study.

Assessment of craniofacial growth in individuals with ectodermal dysplasia after complete denture rehabilitation: A preliminary study.

Aim: The main purpose was to evaluate the effect of complete denture rehabilitation on the jaw growth pattern in individuals with ectodermal dysplasia from an early age to maturity.

Settings And Design: This was a prospective in vivo study performed in the Department of Prosthodontics, King George Medical University, Lucknow, India.

Materials And Methods: Rehabilitation with three sets of conventional complete dentures was completed in an ectodermal dysplasia case at the age of 5, 10, and 17 years.

Comparison of Intravenous Granisetron and Ondansetron on Hemodynamics and Sensory Motor Block After Spinal Anaesthesia With Hyperbaric Bupivacaine in Patients Undergoing Elective Surgery: A Randomized Double-Blind Study.

A Comparative Study of Ultrasound-Guided Quadratus Lumborum Block and Transversus Abdominis Plane Block for Postoperative Analgesia Following Total Abdominal Hysterectomy.

Background:  Total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) results in remarkable postoperative pain. Truncal nerve blocks like the quadratus lumborum (QL) block and transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block are described to combat this pain. The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of the QL block with the TAP block in terms of numeric rating scale (NRS) scores as the primary outcome for postoperative pain in TAH.

Comparison of Ropivacaine Plus Dexmedetomidine and Ropivacaine Plus Magnesium Sulfate Infiltration for Postoperative Analgesia in Patients Undergoing Lumbar Spine Surgeries.

Background:  Acute pain after lumbar spine surgery is due to soft tissue and muscle separation at the operation site. Local anesthetic wound infiltration is a safe and effective method for postoperative analgesia following lumbar spine surgery. In this study, we aimed to investigate and compare the efficacy of ropivacaine plus dexmedetomidine and ropivacaine plus magnesium sulfate for postoperative analgesia in lumbar spine surgeries.

Development and Characterization of Pullulan-Based Orodispersible Films of Iron.

Iron deficiency is the principal cause of nutritional anemia and it constitutes a major health problem, especially during pregnancy. Despite the availability of various non-invasive traditional oral dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, and liquid preparations of iron, they are hard to consume for special populations such as pregnant women, pediatric, and geriatric patients with dysphagia and vomiting tendency. Anticancer drugs in monotherapy are ineffective to treat various kinds of cancer due to the heterogeneous nature of cancer. Moreover, available anticancer drugs possessed various hurdles, such as drug resistance, insensitivity of cancer cells to drugs, adverse effects and patient inconveniences. Hence, plant-based phytochemicals could be a better substitute for conventional chemotherapy for treatment of cancer due to various properties: lesser adverse effects, action via multiple pathways, economical, etc.

Nanosilver-functionalized polysaccharides as a platform for wound dressing.

Polysaccharides that are naturally sourced have enormous promise as wound dressings, due to their wider availability and reasonable cost and good biocompatibility. Furthermore, nanosilver extensively applied in wound treatment is attributed to its broad spectrum of antimicrobial effects and lesser drug resistance. Functional Outcome of Hemiarthroplasty of the Hip for Unstable Intertrochanteric Fractures of the Femur in Elderly Patients: A Prospective Study.

Introduction It is frequently challenging to treat an unstable intertrochanteric fracture in elderly people by internal fixation because of difficult anatomical reduction, poor bone quality, the need for prolonged bed rest and restricted ambulation. As an alternative to internal fixation, cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty has been used as a treatment for unstable intertrochanteric fractures to avoid the postoperative immobilization-related complications. Comparative Analytical Study of Dinoprostone Gel and Hyaluronidase Injection for Induction of Labour in Term Primigravida in Tertiary Rural Medical Centre of Western Uttar Pradesh.

To compare the efficacy of intracervical dinoprostone gel and hyaluronidase injection for induction of labour in term primigravida. This is a hospital based analytical prospective interventional study conducted in a rural tertiary care centre over a period of 18 months. Effectiveness of 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine on radiological primary end-point pneumonia among cases of severe community acquired pneumonia in children: A prospective multi-site hospital-based test-negative study in Northern India.

Introduction: Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a leading cause of under-five mortality in India and Streptococcus pneumoniae is the main bacterial pathogen for it. Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine 13 (PCV13) has been introduced in a phased manner, in the national immunization program of India since 2017/2018. Hospital-Based Retrospective Cross-sectional Study to Analyse the Causes of Maternal Deaths at a Tertiary Health Care Facility.

Context: Maternal mortality is considered a key health indicator of Maternal and Child Health. Considering the fact that complications are preventable and most of them are modifiable, the study has been planned to analyse maternal deaths in order to suggest recommendations for preventing it. There are various delays according to the three-delay model at primary and secondary level; therefore, interventions are needed at those levels to prevent maternal deaths.
