Rabies remains a significant public health challenge in Africa, primarily burdening impoverished rural communities, with children and young adults being the most vulnerable. Achieving complete elimination in the continent by 2030 requires a coordinated effort hinged on the One Health concept, external support from international organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the national governments of endemic countries. Here, we reviewed the various socio-economic and ecological factors influencing the spatial distribution and molecular epidemiology of the disease.

Platinum-based chemotherapy after surgical cytoreduction is the universal treatment for advanced ovarian cancer (OC), however, about eighty percent of patients experienced relapse and progression-free survival remained poor. Patients who relapsed within one year of treatment eventually become resistant to second-line chemotherapy. Poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors are a novel class of targeted therapy that could overcome these challenges by augmenting the chemotherapeutic activity of other cytotoxic agents.

Background: Most patients with epithelial ovarian cancers (EOC) present with advanced-stage disease because of non-specific symptoms and lack of reliable strategies for early diagnosis. Cancer antigen 125 (CA-125) is suggested as a useful prognostic biomarker, its serum level is raised in over 80.0% of patients with EOC.

Echis ocellatus is one of the commonest snakes responsible for envenomation in Nigeria. Antivenom is the only effective treatment, but the country suffers from a limited supply of effective antivenom. This study therefore aimed to explore the feasibility of effective, mono-specific antibodies production through immunization in rabbits using the venom of Echis ocellatus from Nigeria.

Circumcaval ureter (CVU) is an uncommon congenital anomaly, in which the proximal ureter makes a loop posterior to the inferior vena cava (IVC) usually resulting in ureteric obstruction with consequential hydronephrosis and a right nonfunctioning kidney. It is also called a retrocaval or postcaval ureter. CVU is rarely encountered and, hence, may pose a diagnostic dilemma for radiologists and urologists.

Background: Recent changes across the world with respect to gender transitioning of children and adolescents have generated a bio-psycho-socio-cultural discourse among interest groups.
Aim: This study sought to examine gender dysphoric symptoms among adolescents and young persons in an African population, using a dimensional approach.
Method: A total of 747 primary/secondary school and university students aged 10-24 years were studied using the 27-item Gender Identity/Gender Dysphoria Questionnaire for Adolescents and Adults (GIDYQ-AA).
A substantial global health burden is associated with neurotoxicity caused by lead (Pb) exposure and the common mechanism of this toxicity is mainly via oxidative damage. Curcumin has remarkable pharmacological activities but remains clinically constrained due to its poor bioavailability when orally administered. Currently, cockle shell-derived calcium carbonate nanoparticle (CSCaCONP) is gaining more acceptance in nanomedicine as a nanocarrier to various therapeutics.

Objectives: Preventing severe disease and acquiring population immunity to COVID-19 requires global immunization coverage through mass vaccination. While high-income countries are battling vaccine hesitancy, low-income and fragile nations are facing the double dilemma of vaccine hesitancy and lack of access to vaccines. There is inadequate information on any correlation between vaccine hesitancy and access to vaccines.

Objectives: Even though several effective vaccines are available to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, wide disparities in vaccine distribution, and vaccine acceptance rates between high- and low-income countries appear to be major threats toward achieving population immunity. Our global descriptive study aims to inform policymakers on factors affecting COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among healthcare workers (HCWs) in 12 countries, based on income index. We also looked for possible predictors of vaccine acceptance among the study sample.

The objective of this paper was to examine the efficacy of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) in decreasing depressive symptoms and intellectual disabilities (ID) among individuals with depression in Nigeria. In this randomized controlled trial, 101 participants with depression and ID, aged 18-60 years, who obtained 14 scores in the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), scores 4 and above on Shaheen Disability Scale (SDS), were randomly assigned into the interventions (n = 50) and active control group (n = 51). The MBCT group has shown a statistically significant effect on the SDS and BDI-II variables by decreasing depressive symptoms and disabilities following MBCT (p<0.

Background: Many studies have investigated the burden of odontogenic tumor (OT) in Nigeria; however, the true burden and prevalence of these lesions are not known because these studies are based on a center/region.
Aims: Hence, the aim of this study is to evaluate the true burden of OTs in Nigeria, using a multicenter approach.
Materials And Methods: This is a 10-year retrospective cross-sectional study of OT seen in eight tertiary health institutions in different geographic locations in Nigeria.
