The advent of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in the screening of fetal abnormalities has optimized prenatal care and decreased the rate of invasive diagnostic tests. In this retrospective descriptive study, we began with 1874 singleton pregnancies. After exclusion of some cases, the study cohort ended up with 1674 cases.

Background: To evaluate the potential capability of preoperative urinary Prostate Cancer Antigen 3 (PCA3) in predicting adverse pathologic features in patients with any- risk prostate cancer undergoing open retro-pubic radical prostatectomy.
Methods: Sixty-one biopsy-proven, clinically localized prostate cancer patients who underwent open radical prostatectomy were included in a prospectively designed cohort to evaluate the association of PCA3 score with various Adverse Pathologic Features (APF). The Area Under the Curve (AUC) of the Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve was used to quantify the predictive accuracy of PCA3 and a cut-off point was calculated to determine the predictability potential of PCA3 in foretelling the study parameters.

Breast cancer (BC) is one of the common female cancers and it is characterized by considerable problems regarding its development and therapy. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as significant modulators in BC development, especially, in tumorigenicity and chemoresistance. We therefore endeavor to present an up-to-date understanding of lncRNAs and their impact on BC progression and treatment, concerning molecular processes, treatment options, and use as a therapeutic opportunity.

To obtain a comprehensive molecular understanding of the SMA, including carriers, silent carriers, and patients in the Iranian population, we analyzed data from 5224 individuals referred to Kariminejad - Najmabadi Pathology & Genetics Center, Tehran, Iran, between 2006 and 2023 using MLPA and quantitative RT-PCR methods. The carrier frequency of SMA was estimated to be 5.

Patients with diabetes commonly experience an aberrant production of free radicals and weakened antioxidative defenses, making them highly susceptible to oxidative stress development. This, in turn, can induce and promote diabetic complications. Therefore, utilizing antidiabetic agents with antioxidative properties can offer dual benefits by addressing hyperglycemia and reducing oxidative damage.

Clear guidelines for therapeutic apheresis in children after renal transplant do not exist. This article reviews the current experiences with therapeutic apheresis in pediatric transplant recipients. The ideal characteristics of removable substances should have all of the following criteria for an effective therapeutic apheresis: large molecular weight (>15 kDa), prolonged half-life, rapid elimination from the plasma, high intravascular distribution, and low turnover rate.

Background: The impact of CCR5-Δ32 on COVID-19 outcomes has been the focus of much research. This genetic variant may protect against SARS-CoV-2 infection, while others have produced conflicting results. Given the controversial results of previous research on different populations, we aimed to investigate the possible association between the CCR5-Δ32 variant and COVID-19 severity in an Iranian population.

The prevalence of kidney stone disease is increasing globally, with calcium oxalate stones being the most common type. Oxalyl-CoA decarboxylase (OXC), an enzyme produced by the gut bacterium Oxalobacter formigenes, plays a crucial role in oxalate metabolism. Deficiencies in OXC activity can lead to the accumulation of oxalate, contributing to kidney stone formation.

Introduction: Hydatid disease (HD) rarely affects the genitourinary system, comprising only 2-4 % of all hydatid infections. While kidney involvement is more common, seminal vesicle HD is rarely reported.
Case Presentation: We describe a 39-year-old man with an incidentally found large pelvic hydatid cyst arising from the seminal vesicle.

Introduction: Parkinson disease is a neurodegenerative disease that disrupts functional brain networks. Many neurodegenerative disorders are associated with changes in brain communication patterns. Resting-state functional connectivity studies can distinguish the topological structure of Parkinson patients from healthy individuals by analyzing patterns between different regions of the brain.

Introduction: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) mainly leads to lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in aging men. The present study investigates the role of cholecalciferol, Silymarin, and their combined administration in patients with BPH suffering from LUTS.
Methods: This double-blind, randomized, controlled trial enrolled 80 participants (50-80 years) diagnosed with BPH, from March 2019 to March 2020.

Purpose: The incidence of ureteral injury is increasing due to extensive application of the endourological procedures. In the present study, we evaluated the accuracy of imaging studies in predicting length of defect in patients with ureteral injury.
Methods: We reviewed data of all consecutive patients who underwent endourological management for ureteral injury in our institution from Jan 2020 to Jan 2023, to assess the accuracy of radiological evaluations in determining the length of ureteral defect.

Background: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a widespread condition affecting more than 200 million people worldwide. Common treatments for this condition include retropubic colposuspension, and pelvic sling methods, which use autologous grafts or synthetic materials to support the bladder neck and urethral sphincter. Although these treatments have a cure rate of over 80%, adverse effects and recurrence may still occur.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the potential risk factors of lifetime urolithiasis occurrence on a nationwide scale in Iran.
Methods: All data regarding urinary stone events were extracted from the cross-sectional Iran National Stone Survey (INSS) study, and the possible determinants of urolithiasis incidence were evaluated.
Results: Our multivariable logistic regression suggested that while older age at presentation, male sex, and a positive family history of urolithiasis in either of the patient's parents or siblings were all significantly associated with an increased odds of lifetime urolithiasis occurrence (all P < .

Sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) are a newly developed class of anti-diabetics which exert potent hypoglycemic effects in the diabetic milieu. However, the evidence suggests that they also have extra-glycemic effects. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) is a hormonal system widely distributed in the body that is important for water and electrolyte homeostasis as well as renal and cardiovascular function.

Magnesium is one of the recommended treatments for calcium stone formers (CSFs) with hyperoxaluria. In this study, we compared the effect of magnesium oxide (MgO) or magnesium citrate (MgCit) with placebo on 24-hour urine (24-U) metabolites and the calcium oxalate supersaturation index (CaOx SS). In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 90 CSFs with idiopathic hyperoxaluria were recruited from a tertiary stone prevention clinic.
