Numerous studies have reported that intratesticular nerves exert important regulatory effects on the functions of the male gonad; however, as yet little is known about their distribution in the young adult human testis. The purpose of this study was to explore whether peptidergic and adrenergic nerves occur in the male gonad of this age, and, if present, to depict their distribution further. Thirty testes were collected from 15 reproductively healthy donors aged 21-32 years.

PrLZ expression is associated with the progression of prostate cancer LNCaP cells.

PrLZ is a novel recent isolated gene and specific expression in prostate tissues. PrLZ expression was specifically elevated in prostate embryonic tissues and androgen independent prostate cancer cells, suggesting it might be association with the embryonic development and malignancy progression. However, the function and mechanism of PrLZ during the progression of prostate cancer remain blurred.

Objective: To determine the effect of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) on the expression of invasion and metastasis associated proteins in the prostate cancer LNCaP cell line in vitro.

Methods: The prostate cancer cell line LNCaP was treated with TGF-beta in vitro. Western blotting was used to detect the expression of the "invasion and metastasis" associated proteins E-Cadherin, N-Cadherin and Vimentin.

Objective: To determine the characteristics of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in different human prostate cancer cell lines and explore the molecular mechanisms of bone metastatic potentials.

Methods: Expressions of E-cadherin, N-cadherin and Vimentin in several prostate cancer cell lines (LNCaP, C4, C4-2, IF11, IA8, Du145 and PC-3) with different metastatic potentials were detected by Western blotting.

Results: There was remarkable difference in the expressions of E-cadherin, N-cadherin and Vimentin between these cell lines.
