Purpose: To evaluate the predictors of delayed discharge for patients undergoing robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) at our Institution since the introduction of the single port (SP) robotic system.
Methods: We performed a retrospective review of our prospectively maintained database of patients undergoing RAPN from September 2020 to August 2024. Patients were categorized by the postoperative day of their discharge: POD1 (single overnight stay) or POD > 1 (more than one night stay).

Uncomplicated cystitis is a leading form of bacterial UTI; the most common causative bacterium worldwide is . This internet-based, prospective, multicenter, and national observational study aimed to report the antimicrobial resistance of in patients with uncomplicated cystitis through the use of the Korean Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (KARMS) in 2023. Data for a total of 654 patients were retrieved from the KARMS database.

The intrarenal reflux is caused by impaired emptying of the renal pelvis, that leads to increased intrarenal pressure. Increased pelvis pressure can be the result of a variety of states. The most common causes are acute upper urinary tract obstruction or overfilling of the pelvis during retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) or retrograde pyelography.

However, the initial study only focused on patients with low-risk prostate cancer for whom pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) was not required. To address this issue, we aimed to validate proficiency scores of a contemporary multicenter cohort of patients with high-risk prostate cancer treated with RARP plus extended PLND by trainee surgeons.

Background: Pharyngeal infection is more difficult to diagnose and treat than genital or rectal infection and can act as a reservoir for gonococcal infection. We determined the prevalence of pharyngeal gonorrhea in Korean men with urethritis and analyzed the molecular characteristics and antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates.
Methods: Seventy-two male patients with symptoms of urethritis who visited a urology clinic in Wonju, Korea, between September 2016 and March 2018 were included.

Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are promising in regenerative medicine. Their proliferation, survival and activation are influenced by specific signals within their microenvironment, also known as niche. The stem cell niche is regulated by complex interactions between multiple cell types.

Introduction: The aim of this series was to evaluate predictors of Proficiency score (PS) achievement on a multicentric series of robot-assisted radical prostatectomies (RARP) performed by trainee surgeons with two different surgical techniques at four tertiary-care centers.
Material And Methods: Four institutional datasets were merged and queried for RARPs performed by surgeons during their learning curve (LC) between 2010 and 2020 using two different approaches (Group A, Retzius-sparing RARP, n = 164; Group B, standard anterograde RARP, n = 79). Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify predictors of PS achievement for the overall trainee cohort.

To review the available data on non-surgical management for neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) in patients with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) and provide the most updated knowledge for readers. We categorized the bladder management approaches into storage and voiding dysfunction separately; both are minimally invasive, safe, and efficacious procedures. The main goals for NLUTD management are to achieve urinary continence; improve quality of life; prevent urinary tract infections and, last but not least, preserve upper urinary tract function.

Primary mucosal melanomas (MMs) are uncommon tumors originating from melanocytes located in the mucous membranes at various anatomic sites within the body. MM significantly differs from cutaneous melanoma (CM) regarding epidemiology, genetic profile, clinical presentation, and response to therapies. Despite these differences, that have important implications for both disease diagnosis and prognosis, MMs are usually treated in the same way as CM but exhibit a lower response rate to immunotherapy leading to a poorer survival rate.

Background: Benign Prostatic Obstruction (BPO) is the most common non-malignant urological condition among men and its incidence rise with age. Among prostate treatments, GreenLight laser seems to reduce bleeding and would be safer in the aging population.
Aims: We aimed to compare the functional outcomes and safety profile of < 75 years old (Group A) and ≥ 75 years old (Group B) patients.

miRNAs are short noncoding RNAs able to regulate specific mRNA stability, thus influencing target gene expression. Disrupted levels of several miRNAs have been associated with prostate cancer (PC), the leading cause of cancer death among men and the fifth leading cause of death worldwide. Herein, we investigated whether miR-145, miR-148, and miR-185 circulating levels in plasma could be used as molecular biomarkers, to allow distinguishing between individuals with benign prostatic hyperplasia, precancerous lesions, and PC.

Prostate cancer is the most frequent malignant tumour among males (19%), often clinically silent and of difficult prognosis. Although several studies have highlighted the diagnostic and prognostic role of circulating biomarkers, such as PSA, their measurement does not necessarily allow the detection of the disease. Within this context, many authors suggest that the evaluation of circulating polyamines could represent a valuable tool, although several analytical problems still counteract their clinical practice.

Dear Editor, the pandemic spread of Coronavirus 2 infection (SARS-CoV-2), determining the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), had devastating consequences globally with several waves affecting social and economic life. The use of masks, physical distancing, testing of exposed or symptomatic persons, contact tracing and isolation have helped limit the transmission where they have been rigorously applied; however, these actions have proved not sufficient to limit the virus spread [..

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and andrological diseases share common risk factors and common patho-physiological mechanism. In this brief review we describe the relation between metabolic syndrome and male sexual disorders, and we explore the available evidence of the pathophysiological mechanisms correlating these conditions. The aim of this study was to describe the relation between metabolic syndrome and andrological diseases.

(Purpose) Ingestion of hydrogen is said to prevent oxidation in the body, but hydrogen is produced by intestinal bacterial flora and excreted in the exhaled breath. We investigated how breath hydrogen concentrations change with the diurnal cycle and under various conditions, including after consuming food or drink, and in people with urological disease. (Subjects and methods) Participants were healthy volunteers (40 men, 45 women; 30-83 years old) and urological outpatients (40 men with benign prostatic hyperplasia, 30 women with overactive bladder; 60 years or older).

Background: To understand how human papillomavirus (HPV) screening results, HPV-related knowledge and attitudes are related to vaccination intention in three cost ranges and the actual vaccination behavior in a community sample of men who have sex with men (MSM).
Methods: MSM aged 20 years of age or older were recruited between October 2015 and May 2016 from community health centers that provide HIV testing and consultation services in Southern Taiwan and on social media. MSM were seen at baseline and again at 6 months after baseline in a cohort study.

Background: Penile curvature (PC) can be surgically corrected by plication techniques or Nesbit corporoplasty. These shortening techniques can be complicated by post-operative: penile shortening, recurrent PC, palpable suture knots and erectile dysfunction. Furthermore, Nesbit procedures require the use of a penile tourniquet to avoid intraoperative bleeding.
