Aims: Frailty has been gathering attention as a factor to predict surgical outcomes. However, the association of frailty with postoperative complications remains controversial in spinal metastases surgery. We therefore designed a prospective study to elucidate risk factors for postoperative complications with a focus on frailty.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the frequency of co-resistance to antibiotics recommended in acute pyelonephritis among Escherichia coli clinical strains isolated from urinary tract infections (UTIs) acquired in community or nursing homes (NHs), and to identify situations without alternatives to fluoroquinolones (FQs).
Methods: All antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) results of E. coli culture-positive urine samples from females living in the community or in NHs, collected through a large network of clinical laboratories in 2020 in France, were included.

Objectives: To explore correlations between biomarker indices and urosepsis severity, and investigate the prevalence of drug-resistant Escherichia coli in a patient population at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University in the Ningxia region of China.
Methods: Patients with urinary tract infection-associated sepsis were categorized into three groups: a septic non-shock group (NSSPU), a septic shock group (USG), and a control group with non-sepsis cases of simple urinary tract infections (CG). The study analyzed various biomarkers, including the percentage of neutrophils (N%), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and lactate (La), to assess their predictive value for urogenital sepsis severity.

To analyze the influencing factors of urinary tract stones complicated by urinary tract infections and construct a column chart prediction model. From July 2020 to October 2023, 345 patients with urinary tract stones admitted to our hospital were collected as the training set, they were separated into an infection group of 51 cases and a non-infection group of 294 cases on the basis of the presence or absence of concurrent urinary tract infections; 192 patients with urinary tract stones were used as the testing set and were divided into an infection group of 26 cases and a non-infection group of 166 cases on the basis of the presence or absence of concurrent urinary tract infections. Data such as gender, age, and procalcitonin (PCT) were recorded.

Objective: To explore the therapeutic value of laparoscopic ureteroureterostomy compared to single ureteral bladder reimplantation in the treatment of pediatric complete renal duplication.
Methods: This retrospective study included 80 pediatric patients with complete renal duplication who underwent surgical treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2015 to December 2022. Patients were divided into two groups based on the surgical approach: the laparoscopic ureteroureterostomy group (LUU group, n = 45) and the single ureteral bladder reimplantation group (UR group, n = 35).

() is a predominant pathogen of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the United States. We analyzed resistance patterns by geographic location in Washington State to assess the need for regional antibiograms. The study included urinary antibiotic susceptibility tests performed by Quest Diagnostics on Washington outpatient isolates from 2013 to 2019.

Urinary tract infections are one of the main complications in kidney transplant patients, with a significant impact on graft function and survival. In fact, it is estimated that up to 74% of kidney transplant patients experience at least one episode of UTIs in the first year after transplantation, with an increased risk of graft loss and an increased risk of mortality. Several risk factors have been identified, such as female gender, old age, diabetes mellitus, immunosuppression, pre-transplant UTIs, urinary tract abnormalities, and prolonged dialysis.

: Diabetic patients are more likely to develop infections compared to the general population, especially urinary tract infections (UTIs). The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of UTIs in a population of patients with diabetes (DM) from Romania, to identify the most common uropathogens and their antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns, as well as to determine the correlations between resistance behavior and particularities of patients with UTIs according to DM type. : The hospital records of 1282 type 1 (T1D) and type 2 DM (T2D) adult inpatients who were ordered urine cultures during hospitalization were reviewed, and all 241 patients who presented a positive urine culture were included in the present study analysis.

To evaluate neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction (NBBD) in children with cerebral palsy (CP) and acquired brain injury (ABI), a condition considered less frequent in those patients than in children with spinal cord injury (SCI), and to study the relationship between NBBD and disability grade in this population. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of all patients (aged 3-18 years old) admitted during a three-month observation in our neurorehabilitation department. Data collected were as follows: demographic parameters; disability status (Wee-FIM Scale, Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and the Communication Function Classification System); and gastrointestinal and urological symptoms (diaries, Bristol scale, Pad Test and International Consultation on Incontinence Modular Questionnaire).

Background: Approximately 50% of residents living in institutions have insufficient fluid intake, and 20%-30% experience dehydration. Implementing strategies that effectively increase fluid intake is crucial to preventing dehydration-related complications and reducing complications and comorbidities in this population.
Purpose: This study was designed to explore the effects on fluid intake and hydration status of a hydration game-based learning program in institutional residents.

Importance: Multiplex molecular syndromic panels for diagnosis of urinary tract infection (UTI) lack clinical data supporting their use in routine clinical care. They also have the potential to exacerbate inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
Objective: To describe the frequency of unspecified multiplex testing in administrative claims with a primary diagnosis of UTI in the Medicare population over time, to assess costs, and to characterize the health care professionals (eg, clinicians, laboratories, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners) and patient populations using these tests.
