Torpor is a state used by several mammals to survive harsh winters and avoid predation, characterized by a drastic reduction in metabolic rate followed by a decrease in body temperature, heart rate, and many physiological variables. During torpor, all organs and systems must adapt to the new low-energy expenditure conditions to preserve physiological homeostasis. These adaptations may be exploited in a translational perspective in several fields.

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), the most common form of sarcoma typical of pediatric age, arises from the malignant transformation of the mesenchymal precursors that fail to differentiate into skeletal muscle cells. Here, we investigated whether the protein phospholipase C δ4 (PLCδ4), a member of the PLC family involved in proliferation and senescence mechanisms of mesenchymal stromal stem cells, may play a role in RMS. Our molecular and morpho-functional data reveal that PLCδ4 is highly expressed in the fusion-negative, p53-positive, SMARCB1 heterozygous mutated embryonal RMS (ERMS) cell line A204, while it is poorly expressed in the ERMS cell lines RD (fusion-negative, MYC amplification, N-RAS (Q61H), homozygous mutated p53) and Hs729 (homozygous mutated p53) and the alveolar rhabdosarcoma (ARMS) cell line SJCRH30 (RH30; fusion positive, heterozygous mutated RARA, polyheterozygous mutated p53).

We determined the coadjuvant effect of a recreational futsal (RF) programme versus standard care alone (CON) in men with treated arterial hypertension (TAHT). Thirty-nine men with TAHT were randomised to RF ( = 20; 48 ± 8 years; systolic blood pressure [SBP]: 122 ± 14 mmHg) with 2-3 one-hour sessions/week for 3 months, or to CON ( = 19; 51 ± 6 years; SBP: 126 ± 13 mmHg). Objectives: The present cross-sectional study investigated, in a group of Italian healthcare workers (HCWs), the association between work motivation and occupational health and the impact of socio-demographic and job-related variables on this association.
Methods: A total of 656 subjects (nurses, technicians, midwives and physiotherapists) completed the survey. Linear regression models were used to correlate motivation types (by Scale of Motivation At Work) with health indicators (general health, depression, professional exhaustion, satisfaction and turnover intention) and burnout's subscales (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced professional achievement).

The sounds present inside a beehive originate from the overlap of honeybee buzzes with external sounds. They reveal patterns that support the hypothesis that the sonic context of the beehive may be utilized by honeybees as a source of ecoacoustic codes for communication and the coordination of social activity. Patterns were observed in a data series of acoustic files sampled at a frequency of 48 kHz during the period May-July 2023 in a beehive of Apis mellifera ligustica (Spinola, 1806).

Purpose: To investigate the effects of the "11 for Health" programme on musculoskeletal fitness.
Methods: A total of 108 Danish children aged 10-12 years participated in the study, with 61 children in the intervention group (IG, 25 girls and 36 boys) and 47 children in the control group (CG, 21 girls and 26 boys). Measurements were conducted before and after an 11-week intervention consisting of twice-weekly 45-min football training sessions for IG or continuation of normal Physical Education program for CG.
