Fungi have a wide range of secondary metabolites but are used much less frequently than plants in both folk and official medicine. Fungotherapy could be considered a promising trend in the development of modern natural therapy.

The formation of mature spermatozoa originates from spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) located near the basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules. This developmental process, known as spermatogenesis, is tightly regulated to ensure continuous sperm production. A critical aspect of this regulation is the balance between SSC differentiation and self-renewal, which is directed by various factors guiding SSCs in either of these two directions.

Autoclave leaching of sulfide concentrates may produce various ferric secondary phases, depending on the arsenic content and temperature. Silver is converted to argentojarosite, from which it is not recoverable by standard cyanidation methods. To increase silver recovery, it is necessary to reduce the argentojarosite formation during autoclave leaching.

A series of 16 (hetero)aryl compounds based on coumarin and equol has been efficiently synthesized by exploring the palladium-catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reactions. Polyphenol based on coumarin (4-methyl-7-hydroxy coumarin) was initially converted to corresponding coumarin imidazylate and then subjected to Suzuki coupling reaction with 4-methoxyphenylboronic acid to obtain the coupled product. This modified approach was later developed into a one-pot methodology by directly reacting the polyphenol with 1,1-sulfonyldiimidazole (SDI) and boronic acid in situ to obtain the Suzuki coupled product in one step.

Stress-related anxiety disorders and anxiety-like behavior in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are associated with altered neurocircuitry pathways, neurotransmitter systems, and the activities of monoamine and glucocorticoid-metabolizing enzymes. Resveratrol, a natural polyphenol, is recognized for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antipsychiatric properties. Previous studies suggest that resveratrol reduces anxiety-like behavior in animal PTSD models by downregulating key enzymes such as 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD-1) and monoamine oxidases (MAOs).

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique widely used in ophthalmology for visualizing retinal layers, aiding in the early detection and monitoring of retinal diseases. OCT is useful for detecting diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME), which affect millions of people globally. Over the past decade, the area of application of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning (DL), has significantly increased.

Electroretinography (ERG) is a non-invasive method of assessing retinal function by recording the retina's response to a brief flash of light. This study focused on optimizing the ERG waveform signal classification by utilizing Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) spectrogram preprocessing with a machine learning (ML) decision system. Several window functions of different sizes and window overlaps were compared to enhance feature extraction concerning specific ML algorithms.

A novel nanosized porous supramolecular nonanuclear complex [Pb(HL)Cl(ClO)](ClO)·15HO(solvent) (·15HO(solvent)) is reported that was synthesized by electrochemical oxidation of a Pb anode under the ambient conditions in a CHCN:MeOH solution of '-phenyl(pyridin-2-yl)methylene--phenylthiosemicarbazide (), containing [N(CH)]ClO as a current carrier. The supramolecular aggregate of is enforced by a myriad of Pb···S tetrel bonds (TtBs) established with the thiocarbonyl sulfur atoms of adjacent species, which have been also analyzed by DFT calculations via 2D maps of ELF, Laplacian and RDG properties. Moreover, Pb···Cl TtBs with the central Cl anion, and Pb···O TtBs with the three oxygen atoms of the ClO anion, were revealed.

A variety of new inorganic and organic materials have emerged to advance laser technologies and optical engineering. A rational design approach can contribute significantly to fabricating nonlinear optically active metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) by considering the underlying structure-property linkage. Here, it has been embarked on a study of novel samarium(III) MOF, ([Sm(ata)(DMF)]·DMF (ata: 2-aminoterephthalate), abbreviated as NH-Sm-MUM-4) with enhanced nonlinear optical (NLO) properties.

In this work, for the first time, the potentiometric method was used to determine the antioxidant capacity (AOC) of compounds of different hydrophilicity in the joint presence using mixed solvents and surfactants. The AOC of model solutions of antioxidants of different hydrophilicity was determined separately and in the joint presence in the media of phosphate buffer-surfactant and mixed solvents-surfactant, using as an example the ascorbic acid and the α-tocopherol. It was shown that the surfactant Triton X-100 is able to solubilize α-tocopherol under the selected conditions, allows to obtain reproducible and accurate results, and has less effect on the equilibrium rate of the K[Fe(CN)]/K[Fe(CN)] system.

One of the key challenges in Multi-Spectral Automatic Diagnostic (MAD) robot design is the precise targeting of narrow-angle cameras on a specific part of the equipment. The paper shows that a low-cost MAD robot, whose navigation system is based on open-source ArduRover firmware and a pair of low-cost Ublox F9P GNSS receivers, can inspect the 8 × 4 degree ultraviolet camera bounding the targeting error within 0.5 degrees.

In this work, we report on the synthesis of a novel zinc(II) coordination compound [ZnL] (1), which was readily obtained from the reaction of Zn(OAc)·2HO and N'-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)nicotinohydrazide (HL) in methanol. Recrystallization of 1 from dimethylformamide under ambient conditions allowed to produce yellow block-like crystals of 1·HO. Complex 1·HO was characterized by FT-IR and H NMR spectroscopy, while its optical properties were studied by UV-vis and spectrofluorimetry in methanol.
