Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess the completeness of registration of secondary preventive variables comparing on-site visits with telephone consultations during follow-up after myocardial infarction.
Design: This was an observational study based on the Swedish quality registry SWEDEHEART.
Setting And Outcome Measures: We analysed the proportion of missing values for major secondary preventive target data registered at the 2-month and 1-year follow-up visits, during 2006-2022 (n=101 199).

High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

This experimental and theoretical study illustrates how phosphaalkenes, which are isolobal to alkenes, can utilize a variety of external triggers for molecular switching. The E/Z isomerization of a truxene-based phosphaalkene, i.e.

Developing new organic radical emission systems and regulating their luminescence properties presents a significant challenge. Herein, we build dynamic and multi-emission band radical luminescence systems by co-assembling inorganic metal salts with carbonyl compounds in ionic liquids. After the assembling, dual-band, and excitation wavelength-dependent emission was observed upon light irradiation, one emission band originates from carbonyl radical after light irradiation, the other band from the ligand-metal charge transfer (LMCT) state, which benefits from the charge transfer from the radicals to the metal salts.

This study investigated how children's punishment affective states change over time, as well as when children begin to prioritise intentions over outcomes in their punishment decisions. Whereas most prior research sampled children from Anglo-America or Northwestern Europe, we tested 5- to 11-year-old children from Colombia and Spain (N = 123). We focused on punishment behaviour in response to ostensibly real moral transgressions, rather than punishment recommendations for hypothetical moral transgressions.

Background: Children and young people (CYP) with primary brain tumour (PBT) are at high risk for developing late effects, potentially affecting long-term quality of life (QoL). In low-income and middle-income countries, QoL has not been studied in depth in CYP. In the present study, CYP treated for PBTs in Pakistan were evaluated regarding (A) mean change in QoL scores pretreatment and 12 months post-treatment and (B) predictors of change in QoL scores 12 months post-treatment.

There is a breathtakingly rapid development in various areas that take advantage of the ever-improving possibilities to record and analyze the electrical activity generated in the brain. In this article, we attempt to briefly describe some of these areas, including AI-assisted EEG interpretation, the use of BCI (brain-computer interface) in a medical setting, and the possible new applications connected to the development of very small wearable EEG devices. Furthermore, we discuss the concerns and challenges presented by these advancements in neurotechnology.

Approximately 100,000 persons live with Alzheimer's disease in Sweden. As the population ages, the need for diagnostics and disease-modifying treatment grows. Previously available treatments provide moderate symptom relief but do not affect disease progression.

Despite evidence that cesarean section rates above 10 percent at the population level do not reduce maternal or neonatal mortality, global rates continue to rise and are projected to reach 30 percent by 2030. The factors behind this increase are complex and vary across contexts, emphasizing the need for a local understanding in order to design and implement effective interventions to curb overuse. In contrast to many other high-income countries, Nordic countries exemplify how robust obstetric practices, midwifery led care and evidence-based guidelines can achieve excellent outcomes while maintaining low cesarean section rates.

An increased focus on essential care could avert more preventable deaths among critically ill patients in the world than the current focus on advanced technologies. Intensive care is expensive and high-risk in absence of training and safety standards. Identification and basic care of failing vital organs across hospitals are the fundaments of all critical care.

A recent article by DePalma et al. reported that the season of the End-Cretaceous mass extinction was confined to spring/summer on the basis of stable isotope analyses and supplementary observations. An independent study that was concurrently under review reached a similar conclusion using osteohistology and stable isotope analyses.

Almost 100 years ago, the French physician Pierre Mauriac described a syndrome named after him, resulting from poorly controlled type 1 diabetes, with growth retardation, delayed puberty, Cushingoid features and hepatomegaly. With modern diabetes care, this is very rare but does occur; however, despite the condition having important clinical implications and being easily treatable, this diabetes complication remains relatively unknown. We present here an authentic patient case in the form of a young man with glycemically poorly controlled type 1 diabetes who developed hepatomegaly, hyperlactatemia and histopathological changes in the liver consistent with glycogenosis, a state readily reversed by normalization of glycemia.

The vasculature of the skeletal system is crucial for bone formation, homoeostasis and fracture repair, yet the diversity and specialization of bone-associated vessels remain poorly understood. Here we identify a specialized type of post-arterial capillary, termed type R, involved in bone remodelling. Type R capillaries emerge during adolescence around trabecular bone, possess a distinct morphology and molecular profile, and are associated with osteoprogenitors and bone-resorbing osteoclasts.

Symbiotic relationships between eukaryotes and prokaryotes played pivotal roles in the evolution of life and drove the emergence of specialized symbiotic structures in animals, plants and fungi. The host-evolved symbiotic structures of microbial eukaryotes - the vast majority of such hosts in nature - remain largely unstudied. Here we describe highly structured symbiosomes within three free-living anaerobic protists (Anaeramoeba spp.

Objectives: To evaluate annualized hospitalization rate (AHR) and change in AHR in patients with OHS starting home mechanical ventilation (HMV), and explore if there were any difference in AHR by starting HMV acutely or electively.
Methods: Population-based longitudinal study of patients with OHS starting HMV in the Swedish DISCOVERY cohort between 1996 and 2018, cross-linked with the National Patient Registry for national data on hospital admissions.

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

The structure and spin of photoexcited Fe(phen) in water are examined by x-ray scattering and x-ray emission spectroscopy with 100 ps time resolution. Excitation of the low-spin (LS) ground state (GS) to the charge transfer state MLCT leads to the formation of a high-spin (HS) state that returns to the GS in 725 ps. Density functional theory (DFT) predicts a Fe-N bond elongation in HS by 0.

Background: Depression and dementia are known to be associated. The identification of characteristics distinguishing depression prodromal to dementia from other depressive symptoms would be of value for early identification of dementia. The study of risk factors for depressive symptoms prodromal to dementia could improve preventive care and provide clues to the causes of dementia.

A succinct summary of the 2023 guidelines on the management of infectious endocarditis of the European Society of Cardiology is presented. Main new aspects are (1) the importance of treating endocarditis at a hospital with an endocarditis team and cardiac surgery, (2) a less restrictive recommendation for antibiotic prophylaxis, which now favors an individualized indication in patients with risk, e.g.
