Purpose: To demonstrate the Modified Balloon Nose Cone Technique to avoid passage of the aortic valve in endovascular branched arch repair.

Technique: The technique is demonstrated in a 54-year-old patient after previous open repair of the ascending aorta and mechanical aortic valve replacement due to type A aortic dissection. The delivery system of a custom-made stent-graft with 3 inner branches was modified by subtotally sawing off its nose cone.

Adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MeD) has been associated with a reduced incidence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD)/lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) in observational trials and in a randomized trial. In secondary prevention, a lower hazard ratio for composite major adverse cardiovascular events has been associated with better adherence to MeD in a relatively small, randomized trial. This has not been confirmed in a sub-analysis of a large interventional trial of dual antithrombotic treatment.

Stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) is a noninvasive treatment of refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT). In this study, we aimed to systematically review prospective trials on STAR and pool harmonized outcome measures in a meta-analysis. The choice between rhythm and rate control strategy represents one of the most intriguing dilemmas in the management of atrial fibrillation (AF). Although the advantage of rhythm over rate control in terms of outcome has not been unequivocally proven, the initial management of patients with symptomatic episodes of AF frequently involves early cardioversion. As electrical cardioversion (EC) is challenging in terms of fasting status and involvement of an anesthesiologic team, pharmacological cardioversion (PC) is usually selected as the first step toward rhythm conversion.

An analysis of patients below 21 years old treated due to craniopharyngioma in the years 1979-2022 was performed with the aim of evaluating the long-term outcome and treatment side-effects. The standard statistical tests were used, and 56 patients with a median age of 11 years were evaluated. Surgery was the primary treatment in 55 patients; however, in only 29 it was the only neurosurgical intervention.
