Background: Conventional models of hypertrophic preconditioning (C-HP) can be established surgically through transverse aortic constriction (TAC) → deconstriction (De-TAC) → reconstriction (Re-TAC) characterized by dynamic afterload while it exerts technical difficulty on operators and poses high mortality during perioperative period in mice. We aimed to introduce an optimized method for obtaining a hypertrophic preconditioning (O-HP) model for further study on cardiac hypertrophy.
Methods: Ninety mice were divided into four groups: sham, TAC, C-HP, and O-HP.

Remyelination is a naturally occurring response to demyelination and has a central role in the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury. Recently we demonstrated that a novel MRI technique entitled Relaxation Along a Fictitious Field (RAFF) in the rotating frame of rank n (RAFFn) achieved exceptional sensitivity in detecting the demyelination processes induced by lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) in rat brain. In the present work, our aim was to test whether RAFF4, along with magnetization transfer (MT) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), would be capable of detecting the changes in the myelin content and microstructure caused by modifications of myelin sheets around axons or by gliosis during the remyelination phase after LPC-induced demyelination in the corpus callosum of rats.

The prevalence of criticism in everyday social situations, and its empirically demonstrated association with psychopathology, highlight the importance of understanding neural mechanisms underlying the perception and response of individuals to criticism. However, neuroimaging studies to date have been limited largely to maternal criticism. The present study aims to investigate neural responses to observing criticism occurring in the context of three different relationship types: romantic partners, friends, and parents-from a third-party perspective.

Introduction And Aims: Pharmaceutical opioids are an important contributor to the global 'opioid crisis', and are implicated in 70% of Australia's opioid-related mortality. However, there have been few studies which consider the relative contribution of different pharmaceutical opioids to harm.We aim to compare commonly used pharmaceutical opioids in terms of (1) rates of harm, and (2) demographic and clinical characteristics associated with that harm.

Complex categorical data is often hierarchically coupled with heterogeneous relationships between attributes and attribute values and the couplings between objects. Such value-to-object couplings are heterogeneous with complementary and inconsistent interactions and distributions. Limited research exists on unlabeled categorical data representations, ignores the heterogeneous and hierarchical couplings, underestimates data characteristics and complexities, and overuses redundant information, etc.

The coexistence of superconducting and correlated insulating states in magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene prompts fascinating questions about their relationship. Independent control of the microscopic mechanisms that govern these phases could help uncover their individual roles and shed light on their intricate interplay. Here we report on direct tuning of electronic interactions in this system by changing the separation distance between the graphene and a metallic screening layer.

A colorimetric method was developed using G-quadruplex and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for determination of Escherichia coli K88 (ETEC K88). It was composed of two modules: (1) an aptamer as biorecognizing element and (2) a capturing DNA (modified with AuNPs at 5') as a transducer. In the absence of target bacteria, the aptamer can form stable double strands with capturing DNA, preventing the binding of capturing DNA to the G-quadruplex.
