Growing the bioeconomy requires products and pathways that are cost-competitive. Technoeconomic analyses (TEAs) aim to predict the long-term economic viability and often use what are known as n plant cost and performance parameters. However, as TEA is more widely adopted to inform everything from early-stage research to company and investor decision-making, the n plant approach is inadequate and risks being misused to inform the early stages of scale-up.

The unique healthcare needs of 5 to 9-year-olds and adolescents (10-19 years) in low- and middle-income countries have been largely neglected. We generated estimates of 5 to 9-year-old and adolescent mortality in rural Mali, a setting with high under-five mortality, and aimed to define associated individual and household risk factors. We analysed cross-sectional baseline household survey data from the ProCCM trial (NCT02694055) conducted in Bankass District, Mali collected in December 2016 and January 2017.

Sequence specificity of an essential nuclear localization sequence in Mcm3.

Proteins with nuclear localization sequences (NLSs) are directed into the cell nucleus through interactions between the NLS and importin proteins. NLSs are generally short motifs rich in basic amino acids; however, identifying NLSs can be challenging due to the lack of a universally conserved sequence. In this study, we characterized the sequence specificity of an essential and conserved NLS in Mcm3, a subunit of the replicative DNA helicase.

Background: A vast amount of literature is available on the burden of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Community health workers (CHWs) play a significant role in supporting health services delivery in communities with few trained health care providers. There has been limited research on ways to optimize the role of CHWs in HIV prevention service delivery. Numerate adults know that when two sets are equal, they should be labeled by the same number word. We explored the development of this principle-sometimes called "cardinal extension"-and how it relates to children's other numerical abilities. Experiment 1 revealed that 2- to 5-year-old children who could accurately count large sets often inferred that two equal sets should be labeled with the same number word, unlike children who could not accurately count large sets.

Racial trauma and resilience in the aftermath of media exposure of fatal police violence toward Black Americans: Consequences and collective burden.

Objectives: Media exposure to extreme police violence is an increasingly widespread problem that has negative consequences for the mental health of viewers. Black Americans are disproportionately impacted by police violence and its negative consequences, but little is understood from their own perspectives as media viewers.

Method: The present study uses a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to better understand Black American experiences of witnessing lethal police violence toward Black Americans via social media.
