Background: Ampullary carcinoma (AC) is a rare and severe gastrointestinal cancer with a disease recurrence rate of around 40% after curative-intent surgery and for which the main prognostic factors and adjuvant treatment decision remain a matter of debate.

Patients And Methods: The FFCD-AC cohort is a French nationwide prospective cohort, which included patients with non-metastatic resected AC. The primary objective of this study was to describe prognostic factors associated with disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) so as to propose a user-friendly score to better estimate the risk of recurrence.

The composition of the gut microbiota is a known factor in various diseases and has proven to be a strong basis for automatic classification of disease state. A need for a better understanding of microbiota data on the functional scale has since been voiced, as it would enhance these approaches' biological interpretability. In this paper, we have developed a computational pipeline for integrating the functional annotation of the gut microbiota into an automatic classification process and facilitating downstream interpretation of its results.

A theoretical study on electrical current fluctuations in a double quantum dot connected to electronic reservoirs is presented, with the aim of deriving the finite-frequency noise, the Fano factor and the Δ-noise. We establish a general expression for the noise in terms of Green functions in the double quantum dot and self-energies in the reservoirs. This result is then applied to model double quantum dots in various situations.

Throughout the phases of platelet activation, spreading, and retraction, both of these essential polymers undergo continuous and orchestrated reorganization. Our investigation of the dynamic cytoskeletal changes during these phases highlights a sequential remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton in adherent platelets from the formation of initial actin nodules through the development of stress fibers and a subsequent return to nodular structures.

In the realm of nanomaterials, atomically precise quasi-molecular gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) play a prime role due to their unique, stable, and highly tunable optical properties. They are extensively structure-engineered for modulation of surface electronic states toward long wavelength photoluminescence, particularly in the NIR-II (1000 to 1700 nm) window.
