Gouty arthritis is a chronic and progressive disease characterized by high urate levels in the joints and by an inflammatory immune microenvironment. Clinical data indicate that urate reduction therapy or anti-inflammatory therapy alone often fails to deliver satisfactory outcomes. Here we have developed a smart biomimetic nanosystem featuring a 'shell' composed of a fusion membrane derived from M2 macrophages and exosomes, which encapsulates liposomes loaded with a combination of uricase, platinum-in-hyaluronan/polydopamine nanozyme and resveratrol.

Purpose: Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common type of primary malignant bone tumor. Transducing a functional TP53 gene can effectively inhibit OS cell activity. Poly lactic acid-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanobubbles (NBs) mediated by focused ultrasound (US) can introduce exogenous genes into target cells in animal models, but this technique relies on the passive free diffusion of agents across the body.

Treating cancer remains challenging due to the substantial side effects and unfavourable pharmacokinetic characteristics of antineoplastic medications, despite the progress made in comprehending the properties and actions of tumour cells in recent years. The advancement of biomaterials, such as stents, implants, personalised drug delivery systems, tailored grafts, cell sheets, and other transplantable materials, has brought about a significant transformation in healthcare and medicine in recent years. Gelatin is a very adaptable natural polymer that finds extensive application in healthcare-related industries owing to its favourable characteristics, including biocompatibility, biodegradability, affordability, and the presence of accessible chemical groups.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a malignant tumor originating from the epithelial cells of the renal tubules. The clear cell RCC subtype is closely linked to a poor prognosis due to its rapid progression. Circular RNA (circRNA) is a novel class of regulatory RNA molecules that play a role in the development of ccRCC, although their functions have not been fully elucidated.

Objectives: Dihydroartemisinin (DHA), an artemisinin derivative extracted from the traditional Chinese medicinal herb , has the potential to suppress head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) progression. However, the mechanisms underlying these effects remain unclear. Therefore, we aimed to examine the mechanisms underlying the effects of DHA on tumor invasion and migration.

Evodiamine (EVO), a natural bioactive compound extracted from Evodia rutaecarpa, shows therapeutic ability against malignant melanoma. However, the poor solubility and bioavailability of EVO limit its clinical application. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown excellent physical and chemical properties and are widely used as drug delivery systems.

Reduced adipogenesis is a prominent characteristic of aging adipose tissue and is closely tied to the development of metabolic disorders associated with aging. Epigenetic modification plays a crucial role in the aging process, yet the role of N-methyladenosine (mA), the most prevalent RNA modification, in regulating adipose tissue aging remains uncertain. Our study found that levels of mA and its recognition protein, heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein C (HNRNPC), decrease in adipose tissue as individuals age.

The misuse of antibiotics may contaminate the environment and cause harm to human health. Therefore, rapid and accurate detection of antibiotics is essential. In this study, a novel electrochemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) pair was designed using a new ECL emitter (CPM, Ce-TBAPy) as the donor and Co-MOF@AuPt as the acceptor.

The major symptoms of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) are low back pain, radiative lower extremity pain, and lower limb movement disorder. Patients with LDH suffer from great distress in their daily life accompanied by severe economic hardship and difficulty in self-care, with an increasing tendency in the aging population. PubMed and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for relevant studies of spontaneous resorption or regression in LDH after conservative treatment and for other potential studies, which included those from inception to June 30, 2023.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a prevalent ophthalmic ailment with intricate pathogenesis and that occurs primarily due to various factors which affect the ocular surface. DED is characterized by the disruption of tear film homeostasis, inflammatory reaction, and neuroparesthesia. Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) is a versatile receptor that can be stimulated by heat, acid, capsaicin (CAP), hyperosmolarity, and numerous inflammatory agents.

Background: The vaccination status of post-stroke patients, who are at high risk of severe outcomes from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is a significant concern, yet it remains unclear. We aimed to explore the vaccination status, factors associated with vaccine hesitancy, and adverse effects after vaccination among post-stroke patients.
Methods: This multi-center observational study enrolled hospitalized post-stroke patients from six Chinese hospitals (Oct 1, 2020 - Mar 31, 2021), examining vaccine uptake and self-reported reasons for vaccine hesitancy, utilizing logistic regression to investigate risk factors for vaccine hesitancy, and recording any adverse reactions post-vaccination.

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a frequent malignancy of the female reproductive system. Recently, the aberrant expression of numerous lncRNAs has been confirmed as a key factor for cancer development. The regulatory role of PAX8-AS1 in some cancers has been investigated, but its role in OC progression remains unclear.

Early detection of cancer is crucial to reducing fatalities and improving patient outcomes. Metastasis is the first stage of aggressive cancers, often occurring before primary lesions can be seen. It occurs when cancerous cells disseminate to distant, non-malignant organs through the bloodstream, known as circulating tumor cells (CTCs).

Objective: The relationship between macrophages and the gut microbiota in patients with atherosclerosis remains poorly defined, and effective biological markers are lacking. This study aims to elucidate the interplay between gut microbial communities and macrophages, and to identify biomarkers associated with the destabilization of atherosclerotic plaques. The goal is to enhance our understanding of the underlying molecular pathways and to pave new avenues for diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies in the disease.

Neuropathic pain (NPP) remains a clinically challenging condition, driven by the activation of spinal astrocytes and the complex release of inflammatory mediators. This study aimed to examine the roles of Rab8a and SNARE complex proteins in activated astrocytes to uncover the underlying mechanisms of NPP. The research was conducted using a rat model with chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve and primary astrocytes treated with lipopolysaccharide.
