Performance of wearable watch-type home blood pressure measurement devices in a real-world clinical sample.

Background: Independent testing of home blood pressure (BP) measurement (HBPM) devices is often lacking, particularly among older and multi-morbid patients.

Methods: We studied the Bpro G2 (using tonometry), Omron HeartGuide (using occlusive oscillometric technology), and Heartisans (using photoplethysmography) wrist watch HBPM devices against a gold standard brachial sphygmomanometer. To test device performance, we used the ISO81060-2 protocol (though this protocol cannot formally validate cuffless devices).

Zero fluoroscopy catheter ablation of premature ventricular contractions: a multicenter experience.

Background: Catheter ablation has become an established treatment option for premature ventricular complexes (PVCs). The use of fluoroscopy exposes patients and medical staff to potentially harmful stochastic and deterministic effects of ionizing radiations. We sought to analyze procedural outcomes in terms of safety and efficacy using a "zero fluoroscopy" approach for catheter ablation of PVCs.

Endoscopic Findings on Facial Nerve Anatomy During Exclusive Endoscopic Stapedotomy: Clinical Considerations and Impact on Surgical Results.

Background: Variations along the facial nerve (FN) course present considerable challenges in the surgical treatment of otosclerosis, often complicating the procedure. Existing knowledge of its tympanic tract and its implications primarily comes from microscopical procedures. This study aims to assess endoscopic findings of FN anatomy in a healthy tympanic cavity and its impact on the stapedotomy procedure, focusing on the risk of complications and functional hearing outcomes.

Risk of obstructive sleep apnea among health workers: results of a screening in a large Italian University Hospital.

Purpose: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common respiratory sleep disorder, related to increased mortality, poor quality of life, and higher risk of work accidents and injuries. Studies on the risk of OSA (rOSA) among health workers (HW) are scant. The aims of this study were to investigate this issue in a large University Hospital and to assess the effectiveness of a screening program.

First case of dichorionic diamniotic triplet pregnancy after single blastocyst transfer.

Multiple pregnancies are associated with significant maternal, fetal, and neonatal risks, including prematurity, low birth weight, pre-eclampsia, anemia, postpartum hemorrhage, intrauterine growth restriction, neonatal morbidity, and increased neonatal and infant mortality rates. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments should prioritize efforts to reduce such events, resisting patient demand for the transfer of multiple embryos at each transfer to increase success rates. Extended culture, embryo selection, and single blastocyst transfer can mitigate the risk of high-order multiple pregnancies.

Guidelines on the diagnosis, treatment and management of visceral and renal arteries aneurysms: a joint assessment by the Italian Societies of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (SICVE) and Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM).

The objective of these Guidelines is to provide recommendations for the classification, indication, treatment and management of patients suffering from aneurysmal pathology of the visceral and renal arteries. The methodology applied was the GRADE-SIGN version, and followed the instructions of the AGREE quality of reporting checklist. Clinical questions, structured according to the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome) model, were formulated, and systematic literature reviews were carried out according to them.

Background & Aims: Sustained virological response (SVR) by direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) may reverse the hypercoagulable state of HCV cirrhosis and the portal vein thrombosis (PVT) risk. We evaluated the incidence and predictive factors of de novo, non-tumoral PVT in patients with cirrhosis after HCV eradication.

Introduction: The study aimed to develop international consensus recommendations on the safe use of lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs) for on- and off-label indications.

Methods: Based on the available literature, statements were formulated and grouped into the following categories: general safety measures, peripancreatic fluid collections, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-biliary drainage, EUS-gallbladder drainage, EUS-gastroenterostomy, and gastric access temporary for endoscopy. The evidence level of each statement was determined using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation methodology.

Background: The effectiveness of the immunity provided by SARS-CoV-2 vaccines is an important public health issue. We analyzed the determinants of 12-month serology in a multicenter European cohort of vaccinated healthcare workers (HCW).

Feasibility and safety of reprocessing of intracardiac echocardiography catheters for electrophysiology procedures - a large single center experience.

Purpose: Intra-cardiac echocardiography (ICE) has become an important tool for catheter ablation. Adoption of ICE imaging is still limited because of its prohibitively high cost. Our aim was to study the safety and feasibility of ICE catheters reprocessing and its environmental and financial impact.

12-year follow-up of the first endothelial keratoplasty without Descemet stripping in a 3-month newborn with Congenital Hereditary Endothelial Dystrophy (CHED).

Background: Endothelial Keratoplasty (EK) is now considered as the standard treatment for Congenital Hereditary Endothelial Dystrophy (CHED) by many surgeons. We present the 12-year clinical outcome of the youngest operated patient with CHED in which we successfully performed a bilateral EK procedure without removing the recipient endothelium-Descemet complex.

Case Presentation: In November 2010 we performed EK without Descemet Stripping in a 3-month female newborn, thinking that the lower manipulation obtained by leaving the recipient endothelium-Descemet complex could be the key factor for the success of our surgery.

Evolution of liver fibrosis in diabetic patients with NAFLD in a follow-up study: Hepatoprotective effects of sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors.

Background And Aims: Patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at high risk of hepatic fibrosis. To prospectively evaluate changes in fibrosis in diabetic patients with NAFLD, predisposing factors and sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) influence.

Methods: 237 T2DM outpatients (mean age 67 ± 9 years, 54% male) were enrolled and re-evaluated after 52 ± 10 months.

Vascularized fibular flap and custom-made synthesis in post-traumatic ulnar diaphyseal pseudarthrosis: a case report.

Background: Although isolated fractures of the ulnar shaft are considered common and relatively benign injuries, numerous complications can arise especially in the context of suboptimal care pathways. For pediatric patients, however, there is no single indication of the surgical approach. In the context of the management of these complications, it is known that the vascularized fibular graft has numerous advantages and indications in the treatment of recurrent pseudarthrosis.
