is the most prevalent opportunistic human pathogenic fungus and can cause mucosal membrane infections and invade the blood. In the oral cavity, it can ferment dietary sugars, produce organic acids and therefore has a role in caries development. In this study, we examined whether the polyphenol rich extractions Polyphenon from green tea (PPFGT) and Padma Hepaten (PH) can inhibit the caries-inducing properties of .

The AAPD has stated that the clinical practice of pediatric dentistry has to be driven by science and evidence-based dentistry (EBD). However, our specialty must recognize the need for both EBD and age proven clinical experience. An amalgam of art and science is required, each respecting the other's important contribution and recognizing that neither alone is as good as the whole.

Sleep and pain share a bidirectional relationship. Therefore, it is important for practitioners managing patients experiencing either sleep and/or pain issues to recognize and understand this complex association from a neurobiological perspective involving neuroanatomic and neurochemical processes. Accounting for the influence of pain on the various aspects of sleep and understanding its impact on various orofacial pain disorders assists in developing a prudent management approach.

About half of individuals diagnosed with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) are multiple myeloma (MM) patients, and most are treated using antibiotics for long-term courses. The penicillin group is recommended as the empiric drug of choice, and quinolones, metronidazole, clindamycin, doxycycline, and erythromycin as alternatives. This paper suggests the macrolide clarithromycin as the empiric antibiotic therapy of MRONJ in MM patients because of its better pharmacologic properties in comparison to erythromycin, and the beneficial effect of this agent in MM.

Background: A dental appliance for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is recommended for patients who cannot adjust to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatments.
Objectives: To describe patients with extremely severe OSA who were successfully treated with a dental appliance and to compare their characteristics with the relevant literature to identify clinical features associated with a good outcome.
Methods: The clinical, management, and outcome data of three patients with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of > 80 who showed clinical improvement following treatment with a dental appliance were collected retrospectively from sleep laboratory reports in Israel over a period of 3 years.
