Purpose: Arterial spin labeling (ASL), a noninvasive magnetic resonance (MRI) perfusion sequence, holds promise in the presurgical evaluation of pediatric lesional epilepsy patients, including those with low-grade epilepsy-associated tumors (LEATs). The interpretation of ASL-derived perfusion patterns, however, presents challenges. Our study aims to elucidate these perfusion changes in children with LEATs, exploring their correlations with clinical, electroencephalography (EEG), and anatomical MRI findings.

The impact of the tissue context on tumor growth and drug response in medulloblastoma (MB) is poorly understood. To gain insights into the growth and dissemination behavior of the MB tumor cells under treatment, we combined three-dimensional cell culture screening with ex vivo organotypic cerebellum slice co-culture (OCSC), which allowed the assessment of tumor cell behavior in the tissue context. To identify druggable kinase pathways involved in invasion, we screened a panel of 274 kinase inhibitors and identified aurora kinase B (AURKB) as a potential anti-invasion drug target in MB.

Background: Vegaven is a novel lipid emulsion for parenteral nutrition (PN) based on 18-carbon n-3 (ω-3) fatty acids, which elicits liver protection via interleukin-10 (IL-10) in the murine model of PN.

Objectives: In a preclinical model of PN in neonatal piglets, Vegaven was tested for efficacy and safety and compared with a mixed-oil lipid emulsion containing fish oil (SMOFlipid).

In this randomized controlled trial, we assessed the non-inferiority of buddy taping to splinting after reduction of displaced extra-articular proximal and middle phalangeal finger fractures in children. The primary outcome was the rate of secondary fracture displacements; the secondary outcomes were patient comfort, analgesic efficacy and total range of active motion 6 months after injury. Eighty-one patients participated: 43 with taping and 38 with splinting.

Centrosomes are membrane-less organelles that orchestrate a wide array of biological functions by acting as microtubule organizing centers. Here, we report that caspase-2-driven apoptosis is elicited in blood cells failing cytokinesis and that extra centrosomes are necessary to trigger this cell death. Activation of caspase-2 depends on the PIDDosome multi-protein complex, and priming of PIDD1 at extra centrosomes is necessary for pathway activation.

Aims Of The Study: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a degenerative neuromuscular disorder leading to muscle hypotonia, weakness, and respiratory and bulbar impairment. Infants with SMA have an increased risk of respiratory tract infections (RTI) including severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections. Therefore, guidelines for the treatment of SMA recommend RSV prophylaxis with palivizumab for patients aged below two years who have compromised motor functions ("non-sitters").
