Cervical cancer poses a significant health burden, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where access to screening and treatment remains limited. Asia Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOFOG)'s response, guided by the World Health Organization's global strategy, emphasizes three key targets: achieving high HPV vaccination coverage among girls, ensuring widespread screening with high-performance tests, and guaranteeing timely treatment for precancerous and cancerous lesions. AOFOG supports member countries through initiatives such as educational campaigns, guidelines development, and collaboration with local and international partners.

Cancer remains a global health challenge, characterized not just by uncontrolled cell proliferation but also by the complex metabolic reprogramming that underlies its development and progression. This review delves into the intricate relationship between cancer and its metabolic alterations, drawing an innovative comparison with the cosmological concepts of dark matter and dark energy to highlight the pivotal yet often overlooked role of metabolic reprogramming in tumor evolution. It scrutinizes the Warburg effect and other metabolic adaptations, such as shifts in lipid synthesis, amino acid turnover, and mitochondrial function, driven by mutations in key regulatory genes.

Purpose: Ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) insertion is the gold standard treatment for congenital hydrocephalus, but there is little data about the cost of this procedure in developing countries. We aimed to determine the in-hospitalization cost of initial VPS insertion and its complications (malfunction and infection) and identify predictors of increased cost.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study by reviewing the medical and financial records of pediatric patients with congenital hydrocephalus and underwent shunt surgery at our institution between 2015 and 2019.

Nodular syphilis with a granulomatous inflammatory histopathologic pattern is an uncommon cutaneous presentation of secondary syphilis which could pose a diagnostic challenge for clinicians and pathologists alike. A 33-year-old male diagnosed with HIV presented with a 5-week history of asymptomatic generalized erythematous papules and nodules with overlying scales, with involvement of the palms and soles. Histopathologic examination of a nodule from the forearm revealed non-caseating granulomas in a background of a mixed cell inflammatory infiltrate composed of lymphocytes, epithelioid and foamy histiocytes, plasma cells, neutrophils, and multinucleated giant cells.

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a chronic inflammatory neutrophilic dermatosis often presenting as a solitary enlarging painful ulcer with red to violaceous undermined borders. This report delves into the role of doxycycline in the treatment of PG in a 44-year-old male COVID-19 positive patient who has concomitant active tuberculosis infection and end-stage kidney disease, for which both first-line treatments (systemic corticosteroid and cyclosporine) are contraindicated. After three months on doxycycline and topical corticosteroids, there was resolution of the ulcers and no note of recurrence up to three months from completion of the treatment regimen.

Herpes zoster is a clinical syndrome associated with reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV), often occurring years after VZV infection, and characterized typically by painful grouped vesicles in a dermatomal distribution. Bullous herpes zoster, an atypical presentation of herpes zoster, is a relatively rare phenomenon; to the authors' knowledge, there have only been eight reports in worldwide literature. We present a case of a 59-year-old female with lupus nephritis who presented with multiple grouped vesicles evolving into large tender bullae filled with serosanguinous fluid on the lateral aspect of the right leg, and dorsal and medial aspects of the right foot, four days after the first dose of 1g of rituximab therapy.
