While performed by all three domains of life, N-glycosylation in Archaea is less well described than are the parallel eukaryal and bacterial processes. Still, what is known of the archaeal version of this universal post-translational modification reveals numerous seemingly domain-specific traits. Specifically, the biosynthesis of archaeal N-linked glycans relies on distinct pathway steps and components, rare sugars and sugar modifications, as well as unique lipid carriers upon which N-linked glycans are assembled.

However, little is known about how these processes emerge in the early postpartum period. The current study examined the direct and interactive associations between MDS and cry-processing cognitions in the prediction of infant negative emotionality and affective concern.

Background: Systematic reviews (SRs) are time-consuming and labor-intensive to perform. With the growing number of scientific publications, the SR development process becomes even more laborious. This is problematic because timely SR evidence is essential for decision-making in evidence-based healthcare and policymaking.

On October 7, 2023, somewhere around 1,500-3,000 terrorists invaded southern Israel killing 1,200 people, injuring 1,455, and taking 239 as hostages resulting in the largest mass-casualty event (MCE) in the country's history. Most of the victims were civilians who suffered from complex injuries including high-velocity gunshot wounds, blast injuries from rocket-propelled grenades, and burns. Many would later require complex surgeries by all disciplines including general surgeons, vascular surgeons, orthopedists, neurosurgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, otolaryngologists, oral maxillofacial surgeons, and plastic surgeons.

Physical Medicine and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Department, Soroka University Medical Center, Beer Sheva.
Background: The field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is as diverse and broad as any field in medicine. The two, seemingly different, fields developed separately and over time (as later presented) merged into one specialty. This resulted in an initial asymmetry of focus amongst training programs - and indeed countries.

Medical rehabilitation is developing rapidly in Israel and around the world due to the aging of the population, improvement of results of medical care, and growing awareness of the importance of rehabilitation medicine. An option of comprehensive community rehabilitation treatment is also developing quickly, both in the model of replacing hospitalization and as a professional treatment after early discharge from an inpatient program. Rehabilitation in the community has many benefits, including financial, high patient satisfaction, and in some cases even more successful results of rehabilitation.

Pathogenic variants underlying Mendelian diseases often disrupt the normal physiology of a few tissues and organs. However, variant effect prediction tools that aim to identify pathogenic variants are typically oblivious to tissue contexts. Here we report a machine-learning framework, denoted "Tissue Risk Assessment of Causality by Expression for variants" (TRACEvar, https://netbio.

Background: We recently reported that Mediterranean (MED) and green-MED diets significantly attenuated age-related brain atrophy by ∼50% within 18 mo.
Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the contribution of specific diet-induced parameters to brain-volume deviation from chronologic age.
Methods: A post hoc analysis of the 18-mo DIRECT PLUS trial, where participants were randomly assigned to the following groups: 1) healthy dietary guidelines, 2) MED diet, or 3) green-MED diet, high in polyphenols, and low in red meat.

Introduction: Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) is a complex mostly autosomal recessive disorder characterized by dysfunction of primary motor cilia, leading to multisystemic manifestations, primarily affecting the rhino-sinopulmonary system. Despite advancements in understanding its pathogenesis, genotype-phenotype correlations are not fully elucidated. Utilizing sibling cohorts offers a promising approach to investigate these genotype-phenotype correlations in PCD.

In recent decades, the integration of horses (Equus ferus) in European rewilding initiatives has gained widespread popularity due to their potential for regulating vegetation and restoring natural ecosystems. However, employing horses in conservation efforts presents important challenges, which we here explore and discuss. These challenges encompass the lack of consensus on key terms inherent to conservation and rewilding, the entrenched culture and strong emotions associated with horses, low genetic diversity and high susceptibility to hereditary diseases in animals under human selection, as well as insufficient consideration for the social behaviour of horses in wild-living populations.
