Neurofeedback (NF) has emerged as a promising avenue for demonstrating process-related neuroplasticity, enabling self-regulation of brain function. NF targeting the amygdala has drawn attention to therapeutic potential in psychiatry, by potentially harnessing emotion-regulation processes. However, not all individuals respond equally to NF training, possibly owing to varying self-regulation abilities.

Background: The risk of central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) is associated with central venous catheter (CVC) dwelling time. We implemented a hospital-wide intervention aimed to alert physicians to CVC duration and necessity and to improve the monitoring of CLABSI prevention process measures outside the intensive care unit (ICU).
Methods: A retrospective, before-after study that evaluated short-term, nonhemodialysis CVCs in and out of the ICU.

Natural habitat patches can be essential in conserving biodiversity and providing ecosystem services for agroecological systems. However, adopting a land-sharing approach requires a deep understanding of the agricultural costs and benefits associated with the existence of adjacent natural habitat patches. We used 17 paired natural habitat patch-wheat field replicates to test the effects of distance from the natural patches and removal of ground-dwelling arthropods from the field on the wheat yield.

Background: The best first-line monotherapy for hypertension remains uncertain, as current guidelines suggest that thiazides, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEis), angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), and calcium channel blockers (CCBs) are appropriate in the absence of specific comorbidities. We aimed to compare the outcomes of first-line antihypertensive classes in a real-life setting with a long follow-up period.
Methods: This nationwide retrospective new-user cohort study included patients insured by the largest health maintenance organization in Israel.

Background: Most studies that explore the long-term effects of COVID-19 are based on subjectively reported symptoms, while laboratory-measured biomarkers are mainly examined in studies of relatively small cohorts. This study investigates the long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection on common laboratory biomarkers.
Methods: We utilized a retrospective cohort of SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals and rigorously matched controls based on demographic and clinical characteristics, examining 63 common laboratory biomarkers.

Background: Migraine, a condition affecting 12% of the population, is a prevalent cause of disability, significantly impacts individuals during their most productive working years. Several studies have established that a migraine patient's job performance is often limited by absenteeism and presenteeism. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of migraines on occupational burnout, which affects up to 40% of workers.

Since females grow faster in penaeid shrimp, all-female aquaculture was proposed. Environmental conditions in the Pacific white shrimp were not found to affect genetic sex determination (ZZ/ZW system). The androgenic gland-secreting insulin-like androgenic gland hormone is a key controlling factor in crustacean male differentiation.

Purpose: To assess the safety of zoledronic acid (ZOL) and denosumab (Dmab) administered following hip fracture in a hospital setting.
Methods: Patients older than 65 years were treated by a fracture liaison service following hip fracture. Generally, patients who had a glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) > 35 mL/min were treated with ZOL, whereas patients who had previously received bisphosphonates or had a eGFR between 20 and 35 mL/min were treated with Dmab.

Background And Purpose: Classic Kaposi sarcoma (CKS) is a rare vascular disease mainly found in populations of Mediterranean origin. The pathogenesis involves Human Herpes Virus 8 (HHV8) and genetic mutations such as SNP309 in the MDM2 gene. The recently discovered BPTF mutation in cells of CKS patients demonstrated higher latency-associated nuclear antigen (LANA) staining and altered vital transcriptomics, implicating a potential role in tumorigenesis.

Background/objectives: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is a highly heterogeneous and the most common form of head and neck cancer, posing significant challenges for disease management. The objective of this review is to assess the utility of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) in addressing these challenges by enabling a detailed characterization of the tumor microenvironment (TME) at the cellular level.
Methods: This review compiles and analyzes current strategies that utilize scRNAseq and other single-cell technologies in HNSCC research.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating and neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system (CNS), with a putative autoimmune origin and complex pathogenesis. Modification of the natural history of MS by reducing relapses and slowing disability accumulation was first attained in the 1990 s with the development of the first-generation disease-modifying therapies. Glatiramer acetate (GA), a copolymer of L-alanine, L-lysine, L-glutamic acid, and L-tyrosine, was discovered due to its ability to suppress the animal model of MS, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.

Vitiligo is characterized by depigmented skin lesions involving melanocyte defects and immune dysregulation. Haematological markers like neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been explored in various skin disorders. Given vitiligo's proposed pathogenesis, we hypothesized differences in NLR and PLR in vitiligo patients compared to controls.

Background: Childhood obesity is a major public health concern, and the global rate is rising. Rapid infant weight gain is a risk factor for later overweight. Studies have linked prenatal ambient temperature exposure to fetal growth, and preliminary evidence suggests postnatal exposure may be associated with infant weight gain.

The association of AA with malignancies has been a scope of controversy as the current literature is highly inconsistent in this regard. To evaluate the association between AA and hematological malignancies (HMs) and solid malignancies (SMs) using a large-scale, real-life computerized database. A cross-sectional study was conducted to compare the prevalence of HMs and SMs among patients with AA relative to age-, sex-, and ethnicity-matched control subjects.
