Background: Patients with heart failure and iron deficiency have diverse causes for hospitalization and death that might be affected by iron repletion.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore causes of hospitalizations and deaths in a randomized trial (IRONMAN) of heart failure comparing intravenous ferric derisomaltose (FDI) (n = 568) and usual care (n = 569).
Methods: Patients with heart failure, left ventricular ejection fraction ≤45%, and either transferrin saturation <20% or serum ferritin <100 μg/L were enrolled.

Background: Structured training programs for robotic colorectal surgery are limited, and there are concerns about surgical outcomes and operating times.
Objective: To compare perioperative and oncological outcomes of robotic total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer performed by expert consultants and surgical trainees in a modular surgical training program.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Background: Only recently have research and policy begun to shine a light on the magnifying effects of EWEs (Extreme Weather Events) on children's exposure to violence. However, the links between EWEs and VAC (Violence against Children) remain under-theorised, poorly understood and often unacknowledged in policy and practice.
Objective: Identify, synthesize and analyse available evidence on the central characteristics and factors influencing the relationship between VAC and EWEs.

The role that working equids play in both rural and urban communities in low and middle-income countries is invaluable. They contribute to daily tasks such as carrying food, water and people, support income generation, and are of social and cultural importance. Despite their importance, global standards of working equid welfare are low.

Globally, many people don't eat a healthy diet despite policies and public health frameworks deployed to improve dietary status. Healthy diets can prevent, manage, and even reverse chronic disease, highlighting the importance of health professionals addressing healthy diets in clinical consultations. Conversation analysis (CA) is a method that can be used to understand dietary talk in these clinical consultations; however, it is unclear to what extent CA has been used for this purpose.

Cancer poses a substantial global health challenge, driving the need for innovative therapeutic solutions that offer improved effectiveness and fewer side effects. Topoisomerase I (Topo I) has emerged as a validated molecular target in the pursuit of developing anticancer drugs due to its critical role in DNA replication and transcription. (+)-Pancratistatin (PST), a naturally occurring compound found in various plants, exhibits promising anticancer properties by inhibiting Topo I activity.

A method has been developed based on proximity labelling that detects the interaction of specific proteins with endogenous triplex DNA sequences formed in live cells — significantly expanding the catalogue of putative proteins that interact with these DNA structures.

DDX17 is an RNA helicase shown to be involved in critical processes during the early phases of neuronal differentiation. Globally, we compiled a case-series of 11 patients with neurodevelopmental phenotypes harbouring de novo monoallelic variants in DDX17. All 11 patients in our case series had a neurodevelopmental phenotype, whereby intellectual disability, delayed speech and language, and motor delay predominated.

During the most active period of star formation in galaxies, which occurs in the redshift range 1 3, strong bursts of star formation result in significant quantities of dust, which obscures new stars being formed as their UV/optical light is absorbed and then re-emitted in the infrared, which redshifts into the mm/sub-mm bands for these early times. To get a complete picture of the high- galaxy population, we need to survey a large patch of the sky in the sub-mm with sufficient angular resolution to resolve all galaxies, but we also need the depth to fully sample their cosmic evolution, and therefore obtain their redshifts using direct mm spectroscopy with a very wide frequency coverage. This requires a large single-dish sub-mm telescope with fast mapping speeds at high sensitivity and angular resolution, a large bandwidth with good spectral resolution and multiplex spectroscopic capabilities.

Per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and their degradation products are a concern to human and ecosystem health. Wastewater treatment plants are not efficient at removing PFAS compounds and are thought to be a major source of these compounds to marine environments. The sewerage infrastructure in the UK, has over 20,000 combined stormwater overflows (CSOs).

Behavioural analysis has been attracting significant attention as a broad indicator of sub-lethal toxicity and has secured a place as an important subdiscipline in ecotoxicology. Among the most notable characteristics of behavioural research, compared to other established approaches in sub-lethal ecotoxicology (e.g.

Citizens play a crucial role in attaining the United Nations 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs). There is growing awareness of the importance of understanding citizen perspectives on environmental issues, in relation to developing and maintaining sustainable lifestyles, and in addressing perceived threats to protection and restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity. This analysis sought to understand people's attitudes towards environmental conservation, how they relate to perceived threats to the countryside, and to determine how attitudes and perceived threats vary demographically and between countries.

The ability of enzymes to hydrolyze the ubiquitous polyester, poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), has enabled the potential for bioindustrial recycling of this waste plastic. To date, many of these PET hydrolases have been engineered for improved catalytic activity and stability, but current screening methods have limitations in screening large libraries, including under high-temperature conditions. Here, we developed a platform that can simultaneously interrogate PET hydrolase libraries of 10-10 variants (per round) for protein solubility, thermostability, and activity via paired, plate-based split green fluorescent protein and model substrate screens.

Atlantic sturgeon ( ssp. ) has been a food resource in North America for millennia. However, industrial-scale fishing activities following the establishment of European colonies led to multiple collapses of sturgeon stocks, driving populations such as those in the Chesapeake area close to extinction.

Purpose: The language that school professionals use to describe disabled students can reveal and perpetuate ableist assumptions. Professionals' language choices can also challenge ableist attitudes to help create more inclusive, equitable learning environments. This tutorial seeks to guide speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and other school professionals to identify ableist language, understand the ableist ideologies that such language reveals, and develop strategies to implement ways of communicating with and about disabled students that align with an anti-ableist stance.
