Although implantation and parturition are associated with pro-inflammatory signals, inflammatory responses in the mature placenta frequently lead to pregnancy loss. Indeed, uterine inflammatory/infectious diseases are major causes of infertility and pregnancy loss in dogs. The pro-inflammatory interleukin (IL)-1β is increased during canine placentation and downregulated in mature placentae during healthy pregnancies, but is enriched in the placenta during infectious events.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection, one of the most common forms of hepatitis worldwide, is often associated with extrahepatic, particularly renal, manifestations. However, the underlying mechanisms are incompletely understood. Here, we report the development of a de novo immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis (GN) in a kidney transplant recipient with chronic hepatitis E.

Parturition in dogs is subjected to complex hormonal regulation, with the involvement of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) still not fully understood. To investigate uterine inertia (UI), the most prevalent maternal reason for dystocia in the bitch, a better understanding of undisturbed uterine, especially myometrial function, is crucial. Our aim was to gain deeper insights into the role of PGF2α in the canine parturient myometrium.

Objectives: The mental health of veterinary and other animal health professionals is significantly impacted by the psychological stressors they encounter, such as euthanasia, witnessing animal suffering and moral distress. Moral distress, initially identified in nursing, arises when individuals are aware of the right action but are hindered by institutional constraints. We aimed to review existing research on moral distress scales among animal care workers by focusing on the identification and psychometric validity of its measurement.

Objectives: To investigate stifle kinematics and kinetics following TPLO and TPLO combined with an extra-articular lateral augmentation (TPLO-IB) during the tibial compression test (TCT) and the tibial pivot compression test (TPT), applied with an external (eTPT) and an internal moment (iTPT).
Study Design: Experimental ex vivo study.
Sample Population: Ten cadaveric hindlimbs of dogs weighing 23-40 kg.

In this modelling study, we pursued two main goals. The first was to establish a new CTV-to-PTV expansion which considers the closest and most critical organ at risk (OAR). The second goal was to investigate the impact of the planning target volume (PTV) margin size on the tumor control probability (TCP) and its dependence on the geometrical setup uncertainties.
