Antiviral compounds are crucial to controlling the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Approved drugs have been tested for their efficacy against COVID-19, and new pharmaceuticals are being developed as a complementary tool to vaccines. In this work, a cheap and fast purification method for natural tyrosinase from (AbTyr) fresh mushrooms was developed to evaluate the potential of this enzyme as a therapeutic protein the inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 3CLpro protease activity .

This work provides a comprehensive characterization of porcine myocardial tissue, combining true biaxial (TBx), simple triaxial shear (STS) and confined compression (CC) tests to analyze its elastic behavior under cyclic loads. We expanded this study to different zones of the ventricular free wall, providing insights into the local behavior along the longitudinal and radial coordinates. The aging impact was also assessed by comparing two age groups (4 and 8 months).

COVID-19 has led to an unprecedented health and economic crisis worldwide. Many governments of the world have accelerated an adoption of public policies to address this crisis; however, a trade-off between the economy and public health exists. Previous studies in this area have mainly focused on the impact of COVID-19 on human life and the environment.

This paper presents a novel nanoformulation for sustained-release delivery of dexamethasone (DEX) to the ocular posterior segment using a Laponite (LAP) carrier-DEX/LAP 1:10 w w formulation; 10 mg ml. In vivo ocular feasibility and pharmacokinetics after intravitreal (IV) and suprachoroidal (SC) administration in rabbit eyes are compared against IV administration of a DEX solution (1 mg ml). Thirty rabbit eyes were injected with the DEX/LAP formulation (15 suprachoroid/15 intravitreous).

Objective: This study aims to broaden understanding into the process by which resident physicians deal with illness and to identify areas for improvement regarding healthcare of residents and teaching physicians training to support them adequately.
Methods: A qualitative study of ten semi-structured interviews with residents who had suffered a serious illness and a focus group of teaching physicians were conducted. Analysis of the interview transcripts was performed using the grounded theory approach, with information divided into five categories: Differences between residents as patients and general patients; confidentiality; feelings and attitudes; learning from illness; and impact on work and training.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have become increasingly present in our lives, and their use has spread considerably. This paper presents a review of the way ICTs can help practitioners and researchers to study, promote, and train positive emotions. It is framed within the field of Positive Technologies: the applied scientific approach to the study of the use of technology to improve the quality of personal experience, with the goal of increasing wellbeing.

The Diagnostic Adaptive Behavior Scale (DABS) was developed using item response theory (IRT) methods and was constructed to provide the most precise and valid adaptive behavior information at or near the cutoff point of making a decision regarding a diagnosis of intellectual disability. The DABS initial item pool consisted of 260 items. Using IRT modeling and a nationally representative standardization sample, the item set was reduced to 75 items that provide the most precise adaptive behavior information at the cutoff area determining the presence or not of significant adaptive behavior deficits across conceptual, social, and practical skills.

Claw toe deformity sometimes leads to dorsiflexion of the metatarsophalangeal joint (MPJ) and plantar flexion of the proximal (PIPJ) and distal interphalangeal (DIPJ) joints. Flexor digitorum longus tendon transfer (FDL) is currently the gold standard for the correction of this problem. Transfer of the flexor digitorum brevis (FDB) has been recently proposed as an alternative method to treat such deformity.

The National Hydrological Plan Act was passed after the publishing of Community Directive 2000/60/EC. Officially, the Act has taken the existence of the Directive into account, but its handling of the regulation of the Ebro transfer ignores fundamental issues of the Directive, in that it does not envisage the principle of cost recovery, does not clearly determine the uses to which the transferred waters will be put, and it is not orientated towards sustainable development. Furthermore, Spanish public contract law is not in line with Community Law, and this may have repercussions in the practical aspect of possible European subsidies for carrying out the transfer.
