Oesophageal foreign bodies caused by meat consumed during the Sacrifice Feast: Our single-centre experience.

Objective: To compare the frequency of oesophageal foreign bodies during the month of Eid-ul-Adha with other months.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at YüzüncüYil University Hospital, Van, Turkey, during 2012-16, and comprised individuals who were treated for bone and/or meat fragments lodged in the oesophagus. The number of hospital admissions with diagnosis of oesophageal foreign bodies during Eid-ul-Adha episodes were extricated and compares with similar date for the other months.

The Role of Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Differential Diagnosis of Simple and Hydatid Cysts of the Liver.

Introduction: The present study indicates that simple and hydatid cysts in liver are a common health problem in Turkey. The aim of the study is to differentiate different types of hydatid cysts from simple cysts by using diffusion-weighted images.

Materials And Methods: In total, 37 hydatid cysts and 36 simple cysts in the liver were diagnosed.

Comparison of icodextrin with thymoquinone: A new hope for postoperative adhesions.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of thymoquinone and icodextrin in rats within the framework of an experimental adhesion model.

Materials And Methods: Rats were separated into three groups: (1) a control group consisting of rats that had 2 ml of isotonic solution administered intraperitoneally, (2) an ICO group administered with 2 ml of 4% icodextrin, and (3) a TQ group administered thymoquinone (10 mg/kg), all following cecal abrasion. The three groups underwent a reoperation on the 7th postoperative day.

Levels of Trace Elements in Muscle and Kidney Tissues of Sheep with Fluorosis.

In this study, we report the concentrations of four trace elements in muscle and kidney tissues of sheep grown in an area with endemic fluorosis. Fifteen 3- to 4-year-old fluorotic sheep were selected for the study. Ten age-matched sheep with no sign of fluorosis were used as the control group.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a distinct pseudosarcomatous lesion arising in the soft tissues and interior organs of children and young adults. It is rarely seen in adults. It was first described in lungs.

Factors affecting mortality in emergency surgery in cases of complicated colorectal cancer.

Aim: To evaluate retrospectively demographic, clinical and histopathological variables effective on mortality in patients who had undergone emergency surgery due to complicated colorectal cancer.

Methods: A total of 39 patients underwent urgent surgical interventions due to complicated colorectal cancer at the Department of General Surgery, Dursun Odabaş Medical Center, between January 2010 and January 2015. Thirty three of these were included in the study.

The comparison of outcomes of surgically treated bilateral temporomandibular joint disorder in different groups: a retrospective study.

Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to determine the prognosis and outcomes of the patients with bilateral temporomandibular disorder which underwent bilateral temporomandibular joint surgery in a consecutive number of patients in a retrospective study.

Study Design: Sixty five patients with 130 bilateral TMJ were included the study with the selection from consecutive 256 TMJ patients who were treated with open surgery who do not respond to conservative treatment. 65 patients were divided in to 3 main groups according to the clinical diagnosis of bilateral TMJ site.

Two-year clinical evaluation of three adhesive systems in non-carious cervical lesions.

Objectives: Adhesive systems are continuously being introduced to Dentistry, unfortunately often without sufficient clinical validation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of cervical restorations done with three different adhesive systems.

Material And Methods: 158 non-carious cervical lesions of 23 patients were restored with a nanofilled composite resin (Filtek Supreme, 3M/ESPE) combined with Single Bond (3M/ESPE, group SI), Clearfil SE (Kuraray Medical Inc.

Management of bilateral masseter muscle hypertrophy.

Masseter muscle hypertrophy is characterized by unilateral or bilateral enlargement of the masseter muscles affecting both females and males after puberty. Limitations on mouth opening, swollen cheek, and also tension in the region of the hypertrophied muscle are symptoms reported. Also, masseter hypertrophy can cause aesthetic and functional problems.

Effect of hybrid layer and thickness on stress distribution of cervical wedge-shaped restorations.

Objectives: The aim of this finite elemental stress analysis study was to evaluate the effect of a hybrid layer and the hybrid layer thickness on the shear stress distribution in mandibular premolar teeth under occlusal loading.

Methods: The mandibular premolar tooth was selected based on the anatomical measurements suggested by Wheeler. The analysis was performed with a computer with the SAP 2000 structural analysis program.
