The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories in our context result from the production of electricity from fuel oil at the Mbalmayo thermal power plant between 2016 and 2020. Our study area is located in the Central Cameroon region. The empirical method of the second level of industrialisation was applied to estimate GHG emissions and the application of the genetic algorithm-Gaussian (GA-Gaussian) coupling method was used to optimise the estimation of GHG emissions.

Pregnancy-related acute kidney injury (AKI) is a major public health problem with substantial maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Women with pregnancy-related AKI require immediate access to nephrology care to prevent deleterious kidney and health outcomes. Patients with pregnancy-related AKI in low-income and lower-middle-income countries experience disparities in access to comprehensive nephrology care for many reasons.

The target in this survey is to investigate deformations of laminates shells (DLS), due to asymmetric and axisymmetric loads, including several other loadings using N-T shell equations. We point out here, the contribution of the metric change in thickness for the analysis of static and linear behavior of laminated composite shells. To achieve this objective, we've applied N-T's shells equations on the same monolayer laminate composite shell and derive the law of MBLS.

To be able to geographically map, model and evaluate noisy sound emissions from industrial motors, emphases have been laid on various phenomena linked to the propagation of sound waves and their effects on the environment. The failure to respect factory-servicing norms coupled with the depreciation of parts of an industrial motor lead to additional sound production, which due to an accumulation in acoustic power and pressure levels contributes to environmental noise pollution. In this work, a study has been carried out on environmental noise pollution from a thermal power plant in Cameroon, using empirical, diagrammatic, analytical and noise map elaboration methods, with the aim of proposing an optimal protection of the surroundings of the thermal plant from the noise pollution.

Climate changes, particularly the increase of temperature are among the main causes behind the decline of fertility in humans as well as animals. In this study, the effects of heat stress on some reproductive parameters of male cavies and mitigation strategies using guava leaves essential oil (GLEO) were studied. For this purpose, 40 male cavies aged 2.

Textiloma is the inadvertent retention of a textile foreign body on the surgical site. It is a rare complication of surgery but which carries severe consequences for both patients and surgeons in terms of morbi-mortality and medico-legal procedures respectively. We herein report the case of an abdominal textiloma in a 42 year old woman who underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy for symptomatic leiomyomas.

Introduction: Mother-to-child transmission of HIV is a major public health problem in Cameroon. The aim of this study was to assess knowledge of pregnant women on HIV transmission and prevention, particularly the four pillars of mother-to-child transmission.
Materials And Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from October 2008 to January 2009 at the Yaoundé Gynaecology-Obstetrics and Pediatric Hospital.

Objective: To determine the early biochemical predictors of increased susceptibility to develop diabetes in offspring of African type 2 diabetic parents.
Research Design And Methods: A total of 69 offspring (case subjects) of 26 families in Cameroon with at least one type 2 diabetic parent were studied, and 62 offspring (control subjects) from 25 families in Cameroon with no parent with type 2 diabetes underwent an oral glucose tolerance test. Early insulin secretion was calculated using the ratio of the 0- to 30-min incremental insulin values to the 0- to 30-min incremental glucose.

Since some hepatitis viruses and the human immunodeficiency viruses share common modes of transmission, such as the sexual route, we undertook to investigate the prevalence of antibodies to these and other pathogens among 384 rural pregnant women. Our study was intended to form the basis of infection management policies in pregnancy. Antibodies and other markers of the hepatitis A, B, C, and D viruses (HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV), the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and Treponema pallidum were sought.
