Background: Independently, malnutrition and delirium in older hospitalised adults is prevalent. However, there is limited evidence on the association between these two conditions in older hospitalised adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Objectives: To determine the association between malnutrition and delirium in older CKD patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

Development of room-temperature sodium-sulfur batteries is significantly hampered by the shuttle effect of soluble intermediates and intrinsically sluggish conversion kinetics. In this work, a double design host and guest strategy (, implantation of a polar VO adsorbent into a carbon substrate and selenium doping of a sulfur guest) is proposed to synergistically reinforce the electrochemical properties of sulfur electrodes in sodium ion storage. The VO adsorbent efficiently immobilizes sulfur species strong polar-polar interactions, while the selenium dopant improves the electronic conductivity of sulfur cathodes and accelerates the redox conversion of sulfur cathodes.

As the global population ages there is an imperative to enhance labour participation of older workers in ways that support good physical and psychological health. However, there is limited guidance for organisations on how to do this effectively. This systematic review examined literature identified through four databases and a targeted web-search, yielding 39 PRISMA records (32 scholarly, seven grey literature) reporting workplace interventions aimed at improving the injury outcomes of older workers.

diagnostics (IVD) testing is a powerful tool for medical diagnosis, and patients' safety is guaranteed by a complex system of personnel qualification of the specialist in laboratory medicine, of process control, and legal restrictions in healthcare, most of them under national regulation. Direct-to-consumer laboratory testing (DTCT) is testing ordered by the consumer and performed either by the consumer at home or analysis of self-collected samples in a laboratory. However, since DTCT are not always subject to effective competent authority oversight, DTCT may pose risks to lay persons using and relying on it for healthcare decision-making.

Aims: To explore whether clinical supervision has an influence on person-centred practice.
Background: The ability to deliver person-centred care and the ability to engage in reflective practice are two key skills expected of nurses. Person-centred care shifts nurses thinking from the patient's disease state to their personhood.

The critical role of sialyltransferase (ST) enzymes in tumour cell growth and metastasis, as well as links to multi-drug and radiation resistance, has seen STs emerge as a target for potential antimetastatic cancer treatments. One promising class of ST inhibitors that improve upon the pharmacokinetic issues of previous inhibitors is the 1,2,3-triazole-linked transition-state analogues. Herein, we present the design and synthesis of a new generation of 1,2,3-triazole-linked sialyltransferase inhibitors, along with their biological evaluation demonstrating increased potency for phosphonate bearing compounds.

Traditional Li ion batteries based on intercalation-type anodes have been approaching their theoretical limitations in energy density. Replacing the traditional anode with metallic Li has been regarded as the ultimate strategy to develop next-generation high-energy-density Li batteries. Unfortunately, the practical application of Li metal batteries has been hindered by Li dendrite growth, unstable Li/electrolyte interfaces, and Li pulverization during battery cycling.

We exploited the power of the Geant4 Monte Carlo toolkit to study and validate new approaches for the averaged linear energy transfer (LET) calculation in 62 MeV clinical proton beams. The definitions of the averaged LET dose and LET track were extended, so as to fully account for the contribution of secondary particles generated by target fragmentation, thereby leading to a more general formulation of the LET total. Moreover, in the proposed new strategies for the LET calculation, we minimised the dependencies in respect to the transport parameters adopted during the Monte Carlo simulations (such as the production cut of secondary particles, voxel size and the maximum steplength).

There is a growing demand for polymer fiber scaffolds for biomedical applications and tissue engineering. Biodegradable polymers such as polycaprolactone have attracted particular attention due to their applicability to tissue engineering and optical neural interfacing. Here we report on a scalable and inexpensive fiber fabrication technique, which enables the drawing of PCL fibers in a single process without the use of auxiliary cladding.

Urban green space use is often associated with improved physical and mental health and lower noncommunicable disease (NCDs) burdens. Factors that influence green space visits have been documented in cities of the Global North, but evidence of urban green space use patterns for cities in the Global South is scarce. The aim of this study is to investigate factors influencing urban green space use patterns in Dhaka, Bangladesh, a megacity of the Global South, with a particular focus on how poor health condition and healthcare professionals' prescriptions to exercise outdoors (park prescriptions-ParkRx) impact the green space use of middle-aged adults.

Stunting remains a major nutritional problem worldwide, especially in middle- and low-income countries including Indonesia. A number of nutritional feeding programs to cure stunting are basically addressing the problem of malnutrition. These programs are particularly designed to promote recovery of normal metabolic function and weight gain.

To this end, the incompatibility between hydrogel toughness and rapid self-healing remains unaddressed, and therefore most of the self-healable hydrogels still face serious challenges within the dynamic and mechanically demanding environment of human organs/tissues. Furthermore, depending on the target tissue, the self-healing hydrogels must comply with a wide range of properties including electrical, biological, and mechanical.

This not only enables energy to be stored reversibly but also achieves waste management and sustainability goals by redirecting material away from landfill. Biowaste eggshell comprises 94% calcium carbonate (CaCO; calcite), an attractive divalent ion source as a viable option for energy storage.

Density functional theory calculations were conducted to investigate the electronic structures of rutile TiO, TiNbInO, and TiNbInO systems. High density (Nb + In) co-doped rutile TiO ceramics were successfully prepared by one modified solid state method. XRD, XPS, Raman scattering and FT-IR measurements were performed to investigate the structural properties of the (Nb + In) co-doped rutile TiO ceramics annealed in different atmospheres.

Background: The recent introduction of the Professional Performance Framework by the Medical Board of Australia is intended to strengthen continuing professional development for the 100,000 or so medical practitioners in Australia. An important option within the Framework is the use of multisource feedback from patients, colleagues and self-evaluations to allow doctors to reflect on their performance and identify methods for self-improvement. The aim of this study is to explore the relationships between patient feedback, colleague feedback, and self-evaluation using the same questionnaires as used by patients and colleagues.
