We demonstrate a new approach to pattern functional organic molecules with a template of foams, and achieve a resolution of sub 100 nm. The bubble-assisted assembly (BAA) process is consisted of two periods, including bubble evolution and molecular assembly, which are dominated by the Laplace pressure and molecular interactions, respectively. Using TPPS (meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrin), we systematically investigate the patterns and assembly behaviour in the bubble system with a series of characterizations, which show good uniformity in nanoscale resolution.

Cordycepin or 3'-deoxyadenosine is an interesting anti-cancer drug candidate that is found in abundance in the fungus . It inhibits cellular growth of many cancers including lung carcinoma, melanoma, bladder cancer, and colon cancer by inducing apoptosis, anti-proliferation, anti-metastasis and by arresting the cell cycle. Cordycepin has, however, poor stability and low solubility in water, resulting in loss of its bioactivity.

Active and passive transporters constitute a gene family of approximately 2000 members. These proteins are required for import and export across the blood brain barrier, clearance of neurotransmitters, inter-cellular solute transfer, and transport across the membranes of subcellular organelles. Neurologic, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric diseases have been linked to alterations in function and/or mutations in every one of these types of transporters, and many of the transporters are targeted by therapeutics.

The comprehensiveness of data collected by "omics" modalities has demonstrated the ability to drastically transform our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of chronic, complex diseases such as musculoskeletal pathologies, how biomarkers are identified, and how therapeutic targets are developed. Standardization of protocols will enable comparisons between findings reported by multiple research groups and move the application of these technologies forward. Herein, we describe a protocol for parallel proteomic and metabolomic analysis of mouse intervertebral disc (IVD) tissues, building from the combined expertise of our collaborative team.

As an analogue to the vapor-liquid-solid process, the solution-liquid-solid (SLS) method offers a mild solution-phase route to colloidal 1D nanostructures with controlled sizes, compositions, and properties. However, direct growth of 1D nanostructure arrays through SLS processes remains in its infancy. Introduction: Subjective cognitive complaints may be a signature of preclinical stage Alzheimer's disease. However, the link between subjective cognitive and non-cognitive complaints and brain alterations remains unclear.
Methods: The relationship between cognitive and non-cognitive complaints and brain biomarkers, measured by structural magnetic resonance imaging, was investigated in 2056 participants of the MEMENTO cohort of outpatients, who were dementia-free at baseline.
Little evidence exists in Kenya on the potential of community health workers (CHWs) in promoting exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) and early breastfeeding initiation (EBI) in resource-restricted settings where very low EBF rates (2% to 12%) have been documented. The study utilized CHWs and assessed their effectiveness in promoting EBF and EBI. The cluster-randomized longitudinal design was used and sixteen villages from Kiandutu Slum in Thika randomly assigned into either intervention group (IG) or comparison group (CG).

Metastasis in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) occurs through an unconventional route that involves exfoliation of cancer cells from primary tumors and peritoneal dissemination via multicellular clusters or spheroids. Previously, we demonstrated autophagy induction in HGSOC spheroids grown and in spheroids collected from ovarian cancer patient ascites; thus, we speculate that autophagy may contribute to spheroid cell survival and overall disease progression. Hence, in this study we sought to evaluate whether ULK1 (unc-51-like kinase-1), a serine-threonine kinase critical for stress-induced autophagy, is important for autophagy regulation in HGSOC spheroids.

Long-term tobacco dependence typically develops during adolescence and neurodevelopmental nicotine exposure is associated with affective disturbances that manifest as a variety of neuropsychiatric comorbidities in clinical and preclinical studies, including mood and anxiety-related disorders. The nucleus accumbens shell (NASh) is critically involved in regulating emotional processing, and both molecular and neuronal disturbances in this structure are associated with mood and anxiety-related pathologies. In the present study, we used a rodent model of adolescent neurodevelopmental nicotine exposure to examine the expression of several molecular biomarkers associated with mood/anxiety-related phenotypes.

The growth of neurites underlies the axonal pathfinding and synaptic formation during neuronal development and regeneration.
