The appearance of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and other emerging infections has significantly impacted the field of dentistry, leading to widespread changes in practices and protocols. This has included the implementation of strict infection control measures, such as meticulous use of personal protective equipment, minimizing aerosol-generating procedures, and the adoption of teledentistry to reduce in-person contact. To date, the complete impact of delays in dental care caused by lockdowns has yet to be determined.

Introduction: This cohort study aimed to compare the effect of ultrasonic scaling on the expression of IL-1β in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) among ENDS users and non-smokers (NS) with gingivitis.
Methods: Self-reported current electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) users and NS with generalized gingivitis were included in this study. All the patients underwent scaling at the baseline visit (T0).

Background: For over three decades, digital technologies have been used in Implant Dentistry, beginning with the introduction of planning software for Static Computer-Assisted Implant Surgery (S-CAIS). During this time, this field has witnessed the emergence of diverse methodologies and a proliferation of technological advancements. Today, S-CAIS is a widely adopted procedure for the placement of dental implants in both partially and fully edentulous patients, with Dynamic Computer-Assisted Surgery (D-CAIS) and Robotic-Assisted Implant Surgery (RAIS) rapidly gaining attention among dental professionals.

The lack of a natural narrowing near the root's end creates difficulty when using standard endodontic procedures, making the effective sealing of the immature root canal difficult or impractical. Revascularization therapy surfaces as a prospective strategy for addressing the management of undeveloped, non-vital, immature, necrotic teeth.

Background: Supernumerary teeth refer to extra teeth that exceed the usual number of dentitions. A mesiodens is a particular form of supernumerary tooth, which is located in the premaxilla region. The objective of the study was to investigate the genetic etiology of extra tooth phenotypes, including mesiodens and isolated supernumerary teeth.

Removal of cement-retained complete arch implant-supported zirconia restorations can be challenging. A predictable and minimally invasive technique combining cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and intraoral scans with a virtual implant planning software program is described to identify the location of the screw access channels during the retrieval, thus minimizing damage to the existing restoration and allowing reuse.

Introduction: Few studies have evaluated the predictability of expansion with Invisalign for the current SmartTrack material.
Methods: Pretreatment, predicted, and posttreatment digital models from Invisalign's ClinCheck software were obtained for 57 adult patients with a planned arch expansion of at least 3 mm. Arch width measurements were collected using a software measuring tool (MeshLab), Invisalign's arch width table, and the centroid of the clinical crown.

Background: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic utility and associated cost of oral liquid-based brush cytology (OLBC) in the diagnosis of oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs).
Methods: A total of 284 patients with oral mucosal lesions were included. OLBC samples were collected from all patients immediately before undergoing surgical biopsies.

Introduction: We aimed to assess pulp blood flow (PBF) and pulp sensibility changes in healthy and traumatized teeth undergoing maxillary expansion with a mini-implant hybrid hyrax appliance.
Methods: Forty-five patients requiring maxillary expansion either with mini-implant supported hyrax expander (MARME) or tooth-borne hyrax expander (RME) had the pulp status of their maxillary anterior teeth assessed using laser Doppler flowmetry, electric pulp testing, and thermal testing (carbon dioxide snow). The study cohort was divided into 4 groups on the basis of expansion appliance (MARME or RME) and trauma experience (trauma or nontrauma).

A method for the digital articulation of complete arch digital implant scans using the implant abutment prosthetic interfaces is described. This technique provides an effective and efficient method for articulating digital scans without the need for matching soft tissue references or fiduciary markers. This allows for a streamlined workflow with fewer intraoral scans and can provide a precise replication of the intaglio surface and emergence profile of an existing restoration.

Objectives: Studies reviewing orofacial mycoses in coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are sparse. Here we review the major oral and maxillofacial mycoses of COVID-19, the associated comorbidities, and the probable precipitating factors.
Methods: English-language manuscripts published between March 2020 and October 2021 were searched using PubMed, OVID, SCOPUS, and Web of Science databases, using appropriate keywords.

Clefts of the lip and/or palate are the most prevalent orofacial birth defects occurring in about 1:700 live human births worldwide. Early postnatal surgical interventions are extensive and staged to bring about optimal growth and fusion of palatal shelves. Severe cleft defects pose a challenge to correct with surgery alone, resulting in complications and sequelae requiring life-long, multidisciplinary care.

Orofacial clefts and their management impose a substantial burden on patients, on their families, and on the health system. Under the current standard of care, affected patients are subjected to a lifelong journey of corrective surgeries and multidisciplinary management to replace bone and soft tissues, as well as restore esthetics and physiologic functions while restoring self-esteem and psychological health. Hence, a better understanding of the dynamic interplay of molecular signaling pathways at critical phases of palate development is necessary to pioneer novel prenatal interventions.

Introduction: It is considered normal for facial structures to exhibit mild asymmetry between left and right sides. An automated, landmark-independent method was developed to accurately assess and quantify facial asymmetry in 3 planes of space and describe a midline deviation of each subject and ultimately establish thresholds of significance.
Methods: The subjects were 279 healthy young Western Australian white adults (134 females and 145 males) with a mean age 22.
