Purpose: Few studies have examined disparities in-and social determinants of-contraception use among rural adolescents despite evidence of higher teen birth rates and greater STI risk in rural communities. Guided by a social determinants of health (SDoH) framework, this cross-sectional study aimed to address these gaps.
Methods: Data come from the 2018 Healthy Youth Survey, including N = 3757 sexually active, rural-based adolescents.

Background: Developing caring behaviors in nursing students is crucial for improving patient care quality. Despite the variety of pedagogical approaches employed to cultivate these behaviors, their comparative effectiveness remains underexplored.
Aim: This review systematically examined various pedagogical approaches used to foster caring behaviors among nursing students and evaluated their outcomes.

Objective: The aim of this study was to develop a consensus model of required preceptor competencies to inform preceptor selection, development, support, and assessment.
Background: The preceptor role is complex and multifaceted, requiring knowledge and skills beyond the typical RN role; however, no nationally developed standards for preceptor competencies exist.
Methods: A mixed-method approach (national survey of preceptors, electronic Delphi, expert panel) was used to develop consensus on required preceptor competencies.

Background: Academic self-efficacy is recognized as a vital element influencing students' academic performance, while social support and resilience have been recognized as potential predictors of academic self-efficacy.
Purpose: The purposes of this study are twofold: (1) to examine the influence of academic self-efficacy on learning outcomes in nursing students, and (2) to explore whether social support and resilience serve as predictors of academic self-efficacy.
Method: A quantitative cross-sectional research design was utilized in this study.

Understanding the response of marine organisms to temperature is crucial for predicting climate change impacts. Fundamental physiological thermal performance curves (TPCs), determined under controlled conditions, are commonly used to project future species spatial distributions or physiological performances. Yet, real-world performances may deviate due to extrinsic factors covarying with temperature (food, oxygen, etc.

Recent studies show that Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) are vulnerable to structure adversarial attacks, which draws attention to adversarial defenses in graph data. Previous defenses designed heuristic defense strategies for specific attacks or graph properties, and are no longer sufficiently robust across all these attacks. To address this problem, we discuss the abnormal behaviors of GNNs in structure perturbations from a posterior distribution perspective.

Although literature regarding HIV prevention among transgender and nonbinary (TNB) people has grown considerably, important gaps remain, particularly in relation to the HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) care cascade. Additional research is needed to understand when and why TNB people exit the PrEP care cascade to inform interventions to better support these populations. Moreover, most studies have focused on transgender women, though transgender men and nonbinary people also experience a disproportionate prevalence of HIV relative to cisgender populations.

Background: There are legal protections for nurse researchers at public universities who employ community-based participatory research (CBPR) in research about social or health inequities. Dissemination of CBPR research data by researchers or participants may divulge unjust laws and create an imperative for university involvement.
Research Question: What are United States-based legal dissemination protections for CBPR health equity nurse researchers?
Research Design: Three case examples employing CBPR are examined: 1) a mixed methods study with participants reporting illegal discrimination in a municipal initiative about capacity building in community-based organizations serving children; 2) a visual methods study exposing potential clean air law violations in environmental justice research; and 3) a study examining workload violations and illegal discrimination among hotel workers.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) bear a disproportionate burden of HIV in China and are particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges. This study is phase one of a multi-phase project that aimed to identify unmet needs of MSM living with HIV to inform the development of a multi-level intervention. We interviewed 24 stakeholders through videoconferencing, including 15 MSM living with HIV, five staff from a community-based organization serving gender and sexual minority individuals, and four staff from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Shanghai, China.

Background: With the surge in China's registered nurse population, defining their rights and responsibilities is crucial for ensuring the quality of medical services. However, challenges such as unresolved medical disputes and unclear duties persist due to the inadequacy and lack of transparency in current nursing laws and policies. This study evaluated nurses' legal awareness, legislative needs, and views on laws and policies affecting their practice, providing insights for future improvements in nursing legislation.

Aniline-related structures are common in anthropogenic chemicals, such as pharmaceuticals and pesticides. Compared with the widely studied phenolic compounds, anilines have received far less assessment of their disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation potential, even though anilines and phenols likely exhibit similar reactivities on their respective aromatic rings. In this study, a suite of 19 aniline compounds with varying - and ring-substitutions were evaluated for their formation potentials of haloacetonitriles and trihalomethanes under free chlorination and free bromination conditions.

In urban to peri-urban watersheds such as those surrounding San Francisco Bay, stormwater runoff is a major pathway by which contaminants enter aquatic ecosystems. We evaluated the occurrence of 154 organic contaminants liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry, including organophosphate esters (OPEs), bisphenols, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), and a suite of novel urban stormwater tracers (SWCECs; , vehicle-derived chemicals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals/personal care products, benzothiazoles/benzotriazoles). Time-averaged composite sampling focused on storms in highly developed watersheds over four wet seasons, with complementary sampling in less-urban reference watersheds, near-shore estuarine sites, and the open Bay.

The debate surrounding the role of cousin marriage in women's autonomy, household status, and labor supply is longstanding and marked by contradictory viewpoints. Some studies suggest that cousin marriage enhances women's situation in the household, while others argue it restricts their freedoms and economic prospects. Despite this ongoing debate, quantitative investigations are limited.

Domain Generation Algorithms (DGAs) are used by malware to generate pseudorandom domain names to establish communication between infected bots and command and control servers. While DGAs can be detected by machine learning (ML) models with great accuracy, offering DGA detection as a service raises privacy concerns when requiring network administrators to disclose their DNS traffic to the service provider. The main scientific contribution of this paper is to propose the first end-to-end framework for privacy-preserving classification as a service of domain names into DGA (malicious) or non-DGA (benign) domains.

Introduction: While the nurse practice environment's vital role in shaping patient care outcomes is well established, the precise mechanisms through which it influences missed nursing care remain unexplored. Hence, this study examined the mediating role of adherence to clinical safety guidelines in the relationship between the nurse practice environment and missed nursing care.
Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study involved 1237 nurses from 11 governorates in the Sultanate of Oman.

Alaska contains over 600 formerly used defense (FUD) sites, many of which serve as point sources of pollution. These sites are often co-located with rural communities that depend upon traditional subsistence foods, especially lipid-rich animals that bioaccumulate and biomagnify persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Many POPs are carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting compounds that are associated with adverse health outcomes.
