Background And Aims: Obesity is associated with a higher risk of severe diseases such as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Polyunsaturated fatty acids, of the omega-3 family (n-3 PUFA), have been shown to reduce adipose tissue inflammation in obesity, as well as to have lipid-lowering effects and improve insulin sensitivity. However, direct effects on liver transcriptome in humans have not been described.

Background: Variants in the UQCRC1 gene have been proposed to cause autosomal dominant Parkinson's disease with neuropathy. However, definitive confirmation of UQCRC1 as an authentic Parkinson's gene remains elusive, as follow-up studies have not yet provided conclusive evidence.
Methods: 382 Austrian Parkinson's patients, particularly selected for familial and/or early onset cases, were Exome sequenced.

Gliomas are the most common brain tumor type in children and adolescents. To date, diagnosis and therapy monitoring for these tumors rely on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathological as well as molecular analyses of tumor tissue. Recently, liquid biopsies (LB) have emerged as promising tool for diagnosis and longitudinal tumor assessment potentially allowing for a more precise therapeutic management.

In this work we analytically investigate the alignment mechanism of self-propelled ellipse-shaped cells in two spatial dimensions interacting via overlap avoidance. By considering a two-cell system and imposing certain symmetries, we obtain an analytically tractable dynamical system, which we mathematically analyse in detail. We find that for elongated cells there is a half-stable steady state corresponding to perfect alignment between the cells.

Background: The emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 variants poses a new challenge for the treatment of immunocompromised patients against COVID-19. In this context, high titer COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma (CCP) is one of the few available therapeutics for these patients. We have revisited the selection of CCP samples and its efficacy against Omicron XBB.

Caves are primary sites for studying human and animal subsistence patterns and genetic ancestry throughout the Palaeolithic. Iberia served as a critical human and animal refugium in Europe during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), 26.5 to 19 thousand years before the present (cal kya).

Imaging is used for lymphoma detection, Ann Arbor/Lugano staging, and treatment response assessment. [F]FDG PET/CT should be used for most lymphomas, including Hodgkin lymphoma, aggressive/high-grade Non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and many indolent/low-grade NHLs such as follicular lymphoma. Apart from these routinely FDG-avid lymphomas, some indolent NHLs, such as marginal zone lymphoma, are variably FDG-avid; here, [F]FDG PET/CT is an alternative to contrast-enhanced CT at baseline and may be used for treatment response assessment if the lymphoma was FDG-avid at baseline.

Object play has been proposed to provide individuals with information about their environment, facilitating foraging skills and tool use. In species where object play co-occurs with locomotor or social play, it may have additional functional implications, such as facilitating the evaluation of peers or forming social bonds. For instance, ravens judge others' competitiveness via play caching and engage in social play by exchanging objects.

Adenosine to inosine conversion by ADARs was first identified in the late eighties of the previous century. As the conversion of adenosines to inosines can be easily detected by sequencing of cDNAs, where the presence of an inosine reads out as a guanosine, the analysis of this type of RNA-editing has become widespread. Consequently, several pipelines for detecting inosines in transcriptomes have become available.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) presents significant risks concerning mortality and morbidity. Individuals who suffer from TBI may exhibit mood disorders, including anxiety and depression. Both preclinical and clinical research have established correlations between TBI and disturbances in the metabolism of amino acids, lipids, iron, zinc, and copper, which are implicated in the emergence of mood disorders post-TBI.

Importance: The current standard-of-care salvage therapy in relapsed/refractory classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) includes consolidation high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT)/autologous stem cell transplant (aSCT).
Objective: To investigate whether presalvage risk factors and fludeoxyglucose-18 (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) response to reinduction chemotherapy can guide escalation or de-escalation between HDCT/aSCT or transplant-free consolidation with radiotherapy to minimize toxic effects while maintaining high cure rates.
Design, Setting, And Participants: EuroNet-PHL-R1 was a nonrandomized clinical trial that enrolled patients younger than 18 years with first relapsed/refractory cHL across 68 sites in 13 countries in Europe between January 2007 and January 2013.

Genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) are instrumental for modelling local and systemic features of complex diseases such as cancer. Non-invasive, longitudinal cell detection and monitoring in tumors, metastases and/or the micro-environment is paramount to achieve a better spatiotemporal understanding of cancer progression and to evaluate therapies in preclinical studies. Bioluminescent and fluorescent reporters marking tumor cells or their microenvironment are valuable for non-invasive cell detection and monitoring in vivo.

Purpose Of Review: Men face distinctive health-related challenges as a result of biological, behavioral, and sociocultural factors. In addition, the modern healthcare system does not offer men equal opportunities and options to ensure sex-specific access and delivery to health services. Men's health concerns are, indeed, often not addressed or even forgotten.

Background: While outcomes following reverse shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) have often been gauged through radiological assessments focusing on prosthesis position, there is increasing recognition of patient-reported outcomes, particularly satisfaction, as indicators of surgical success. The objective of this study was to correlate radiological findings with clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL).
Materials And Methods: A retrospective evaluation was conducted on patients following rTSA at a minimum of two years postoperatively.

In this brief contribution-happily afforded by the 20th anniversary of Physics of Life Reviews-we take the opportunity to reflect on our earlier published paper, which had introduced a theoretical framework, the VIMAP (Vienna Integrated Model of (Top-Down and Bottom-up processes in) Art Perception; (Pelowski et al., [1])) that has come to represent a major basis for organizing, anticipating, and empirically investigating the nuanced, multivariate visual art experience. We look back at the original model and its hypotheses, especially as these regard distinct "outcomes," which we had argued may provide a superstructure of supraordinate, shared varieties of art experience detected across individual meetings of viewer, context, and artworks.

We employ mesoscopic simulations to study the thermophoretic motion of polymers in a solvent via multiparticle collision dynamics (MPCD). As the usual solvent-monomer collision rules employed in MPCD involving polymers fail to cause thermophoresis, we extend the technique by introducing explicit solvent-monomer interactions, while the solvent molecules remain ideal with respect to one another. We find that with purely repulsive polymer-solvent interaction, the polymer exhibits thermophilic behavior, whereas to display thermophobic behavior, the polymer-solvent potential requires the presence of attractions between solvent particles and monomers, in accordance with previous experimental findings.

Health is a multidimensional phenomenon encompassing physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects. Therefore, it is only logical that good care should be holistic and include all these dimensions. However, when examining the current field of health and care robotics, the spiritual aspect is notably neglected.
