Background: In dogs, meningiomas mostly cause chronic progressive clinical signs due to slow tumor growth.
Case Presentation: In contrast, three dogs were presented with the history of chronic generalized tonic-clonic seizures and peracute deterioration with sudden onset of neurological deficits in accordance with an extensive unilateral forebrain lesion. Magnetic resonance imaging examinations of the dogs revealed a well-delineated extraaxial T2W hyperintense mass in the rostral forebrain with homogeneous contrast enhancement.

For this purpose, 59 pluriparous German Holstein cows were assigned to 4 dietary groups in a 2 × 2 design with the factors CLA and vitamin E at 2 levels. Excessive stimulation of the TLR4 axis through LPS reduces the expression of some cytokine genes in immune cells, while stimulating the expression of immune defense genes during a subsequent bacterial infection. Background: Unlike in Warmblood horses, aortic rupture is quite common in Friesian horses, in which a hereditary trait is suspected. Adiponectin, an adipokine, regulates metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Considering that the transplacental transfer of maternal proteins of high molecular weight is hindered in ruminants, this study tested the hypothesis that the blood concentration of adiponectin in neonatal calves largely reflects their endogenous synthesis whereby the intake of colostrum might modify the circulating concentrations. Human and mouse studies indicate distinct roles of selected chemokines for monocyte subset attraction. We therefore analyzed the still unknown sensitivity and response of bovine monocyte subsets toward two monocyte-attracting chemokines (CCL2, CCL5). Only CCL5 induced a significant Ca(2+)influx and migration response in bovine monocytes, with classical and intermediate monocytes being significantly stimulated and attracted compared to nonclassical monocytes.

Two different fluorescence stains, green: 5-hexadecanoylaminofluorescein, and red: BODIPY(R) 665/676 [(E,E)-3, 5-bis-(4-phenyl-1,3-butadienyl)-4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a, 4a-diaza-s-indacene, produced good results regarding the demonstration of glycolipids, free fatty acids and triglycerides in mammalian skin material that had been embedded in a water miscible plastic resin (Technovit(R) 7100). In this way, functional aspects of specific structures (epidermal barrier region, sebaceous glands) could be characterized histochemically in the integument of five mammalian species with sparse or dense hair coats.

Based on sensitive light and electron microscopical lectin histochemistry, the distribution of saccharide residues is demonstrated in endothelial cells and/or the walls of integumental blood vessels of domesticated and wild mammals. Resistance to the benzimidazole class of anthelmintics in nematodes of veterinary importance has a long history. Research into the mechanisms responsible for this resistance is subsequently at a more advanced stage than for other classes of anthelmintics.
