Background: Technical improvements in devices, changes in angiographic grading scales and various confounding factors have made difficult the detection of the temporal evolution of angiographic and clinical results after endovascular treatment (EVT) for acute ischemic Stroke (AIS). We analyzed this evolution in time using the Endovascular Treatment in Ischemic Stroke (ETIS) registry.

Materials And Methods: We analyzed the efficacy outcomes of EVT performed from January 2015 to January 2022, and modelized the temporal trends using mixed logistic regression models, further adjusted for age, intravenous thrombolysis prior to EVT, general anesthesia, occlusion site, balloon catheter use and the type of first-line EVT strategy.

Article Synopsis
  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) was originally developed to address severe male infertility issues that conventional in-vitro fertilization (cIVF) could not solve, but it is increasingly being used for other infertility cases.
  • Various non-male factor reasons for using ICSI include previous failed fertilizations, poor-quality or few oocytes, advanced maternal age, preimplantation genetic testing, and unexplained infertility.
  • Despite the growing popularity of ICSI, there is limited data to support better outcomes compared to cIVF, and it's important to consider factors such as fertilization failure risk, procedure costs, and associated risks when choosing between the two techniques.

Atrophic Gastritis and Autoimmunity: Results from a Prospective, Multicenter Study.

Diagnostics (Basel)

April 2023

Institut des Maladies de l'Appareil Digestif (IMAD), Hepato-Gastroenterology & Digestive Oncology, University Hospital of Nantes, Hôtel Dieu, Place Alexis Ricordeau, CEDEX 1, 44093 Nantes, France.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent increases in gastric cancer incidence, especially among young women, are puzzling, with autoimmunity possibly playing a role in this new type of cancer.
  • In a study with 355 patients, researchers examined the prevalence of 19 autoantibodies in those with chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and found that anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) were more common in autoimmune gastritis (AIG) patients compared to others.
  • While ANA positivity was linked to being female, overall findings indicated that common autoantibodies were not significantly more prevalent in CAG patients, suggesting that routine autoantibody testing may hold limited clinical relevance in these cases.

Metastasis is the major cause of cancer death, and the development of therapy resistance is common. The tumor microenvironment can confer chemotherapy resistance (chemoresistance), but little is known about how specific host cells influence therapy outcome. We show that chemotherapy induces neutrophil recruitment and neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation, which reduces therapy response in mouse models of breast cancer lung metastasis.

Distinct Regulation of EZH2 and its Repressive H3K27me3 Mark in Polyomavirus-Positive and -Negative Merkel Cell Carcinoma.

J Invest Dermatol

October 2023

Team "Biologie des Infections à Polyomavirus", ISP UMR 1282, INRAE, University of Tours, Tours, France; Pathology Department, CHU of Tours, University of Tours, Tours, France. Electronic address:

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is an aggressive skin cancer for which Merkel cell polyomavirus integration and expression of viral oncogenes small T and Large T have been identified as major oncogenic determinants. Recently, a component of the PRC2 complex, the histone methyltransferase enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) that induces H3K27 trimethylation as a repressive mark has been proposed as a potential therapeutic target in MCC. Because divergent results have been reported for the levels of EZH2 and trimethylation of lysine 27 on histone 3, we analyzed these factors in a large MCC cohort to identify the molecular determinants of EZH2 activity in MCC and to establish MCC cell lines' sensitivity to EZH2 inhibitors.
